It is the most concerning attack on computing and software freedom in a very long time, probably all the way back to the clipper chip. The EFF and legal groups being AWOL doesn't mean it's insignificant. It means the so-called 'defenders of freedom' have abandoned their post and gone AWOL.

They take money from people for this very sort of thing, and they are using the money for something else.
