As a small , we don't have set weekday "office hours." Last week tried to deliver an unexpected package on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It didn't require a signature, but the driver decided not to just leave it. By the time we saw the notice on Thursday, they'd already returned it to the sender. UPS says the only solution is to pay for a UPS Store mailbox. 🙄

I guess to make up for all the times I've been late for church I showed up almost an hour early this morning. Then this afternoon I played in Chris's 5e game. All the time in between and since I've been working on Something Blue. The show was done but I wanted to put up the Photo Gallery on Delta Boogie and the audio item on the Internet Archive. So now I got the whole shazamm, radio show, photo gallery, audio, and video.

The Book of Genesis is a prophecy about the Christian age. It uses emblems to tell a deeper spiritual story, which is wrongly interpreted by many Christians and Jews to be totally literal history. But Genesis is not literal history--Genesis is the prophetic future!

              CHRISTIAN CHURCH

He said, "Of course I may be wrong,
              But I wouldn’t be surprised
If this were the greatest Christian church
              That ever man devised.

Our organ is the very best
              Our choir stays on key.
Our stained glass windows — priceless
Our pulpit — the best you’ll see."

But only the wealthy were welcome there,
              I heard slanderous gossip galore,
And from that pulpit so highly prized
              The preacher glorified war.

"Is there anything more you could want in a church?"
In pride, he said to me.
"Just one thing," I made reply —

              "Christianity!"

German folk tale "The Devil in the Church at Unna". Drop me a line if you want a machine-readable transcript!

The Devil in the Church at Unna:

In Unna in the year 1596, it occurred on a Sunday during the hour of the sermon, when both Catholics and Calvinists were present in the church, that a dreadful rumbling could be heard high up near the organ. Then the Devil came out of the organ in the form of a Calvinist lay preacher and flew to the pulpit with great howling and screaming. He then stood on it, and was seen by both Catholics and Calvinists. He had two large horns on his head, and a muttering could be heard emerging from between his teeth. But after he had stood there for a while and muttered, he vanished.

(See von Steinen, Chapter XIII, p. 1176)[2]

White church by the seaside, watercolor.

                  ART -deborahleaguefineart.etsy.com/

In this sunny painting, a small white church stands watch on a hill overlooking the azure ocean and blue sky. The church yard is covered in warm sandy gravel and stones. Green bushes and a flowering vine decorate the side wall. A golden cross tops the attached tower in which a bell hangs ready to call parishioners to worship. Grassy fields rising above the church are cordoned off by low stone fences.

The viewer has the perspective of looking down, perhaps from a nearby hill top. This elevation creates a sense of wide expanse. The church positioned between the viewer and horizon allows the eye a place to rest before continuing through the painting. Conceived in a whimsical style, this deceptively simple painting beckons the viewer to a moment of rest and contemplation, to take a breath and relax. The glory of God's creation, man's toil, our need for worship and what lies beyond are all in view for those who take the time to see.

Sometimes there are signs and portents that indicate where a church should be built.

And those signs are not usually subtle.

The Church at Maidenbeth:

Once there was a plan to build a new church at Neukirchen, about 15 minutes' walk away from Maidenbeth. When the carpenters attempted to cut the timber necessary for the construction of the building, the work progressed badly. Soon one person after the other wounded themselves with their axes, and the timber was drenched with their blood. A bird (it is unknown nowadays whether it was a pigeon or a raven) carried the blood-splattered pieces of wood to Maidenbeth. The people took this as a sign that Maidenbeth would be the right location for the church. After taking this sign to heart the work progressed quickly, and there were no further accidents during the construction.
