THIS WEEKEND! Lockdown Systems will be at HOPE 26! 🌐🐢

Our collective member @redshiftzero will be giving a talk about post-quantum encryption and where we are in the post-quantum transition!

The arrival of a cryptographically relevant quantum computer means that encrypted data collected now could be at risk of getting decrypted later. This is why we need to prepare now! 🔒️

    Harvest Now, Decrypt Later

When: Sunday, August 16th at 10am

The 12 words that lock Catchlight are called a Privacy phrase, not a seed phrase, and that was deliberate.

Seed phrase carries crypto baggage and puts the emphasis in the wrong place. It sounds like a recovery afterthought you jot down once and forget.

Those words are the whole reason nobody else can read your writing.

Same shape as a seed phrase, 12 words, a completely different job.

A locksmith fits your front door and hands you a key. The lock is exactly as good as he said it was. What you don't know is whether he dropped a spare in a drawer at the shop on the way home.

Encrypted software has the same story. Two apps, identical encryption, and one of them can read everything you write, because it kept a copy of your key.

There's a 2 minute test that settles it. Start a password reset and watch what you're offered.

Anthropic’s Mythos found weaknesses in quantum resistant encryption algorithms HAWK and AES. There is no immediate risk, but this it highlights how frontier AI models are significantly increasing their capabilities to identify and exploit weaknesses in software, hardware, algorithms, processes, and people.

Easier to hear with a screen reader (b and c and d and e can sound similar in noisy environments when you're in a hurry), and of course none of the visual systems are really workable. any compromise of the NVDARemote server itself means that your key will be exposed. forget the compromise vector, even a rogue server administrator (something a cupple of NVDARemote servers are known for doing) can see the static key, hence why i want to use for this project.
