I stand by my remarks on the fascism tiraders. Those most vociferously denouncing fascism are in fact, fascists projecting their shortcomings onto the people they hate.
Ditto for those vociferating against socialism. A million republicans say that helping the poor would be evil socialism, then they pass laws giving corporate welfare and tax breaks to the rich. They are really socialists, as long as the redistribution of wealth is to their rich friends instead of the poor.
Politics is a swirling toilet full of hypocrisy and Freudian projection.
@retro @light What’s interesting about all of this is that all three of us, in fact almost everyone having these conversations, actually wants the same thing: we all dislike nazis, we all want to help the poor, and so on.
I AM one of those anti-socialism republicans and you aren’t accurately describing our position at all. That’s the whole problem, is that most people don’t understand what the other side actually thinks. They’re only fed caricatures by a scheming media.
" ... we all dislike nazis, we all want to help the poor, and so on."What about poor Nazis? What's the rule?
BTW, what exactly is a Nazi?
Didn't they all snuff it about 70 years ago?
@randrews
They seem more numerous when you are on the side of fedi where they speak openly. There is also a current of what they call "hiding their power level" I.e. speaking in code and hiding the fact that they're Nazis. Which means that you can't be fully sure that someone is not a Nazi. Which can make me think that they are more numerous than you think they are.

@light @retro My position is whenever the government tries to do something, it turns into a disaster, so we should have them do as little as possible.
As for what socialism is, just look at the countries that call themselves socialist: Venezuela, China, Cuba, former USSR: oppressive hellholes, mostly with shortages of everything (China being the exception on the shortages). Why would anyone want that? And turns out they don't; people flee from those countries when they can.
