Many people think the Amish are 'good people' with a anitiquated 'faith'.

Some former Amish will tell you it is quite different than many perceive. The Amish are imprisoned in a insular and clannish religious system rather than liberated by faith in the promises of God to all peoples. Like many other Christians, it is common in the Amish community for people to worship the authority of the Church and Bishopric rather than the Creator God.

Like other organized religions, some Amish dictate that loyalty to the institution and pastorate is what saves, and that disloyalty damns you to hell. Of course this is found nowhere in the Bible, a book which shows God destroying religious institutions over and over again for this very attitude!

I have no problem with people organizing as a group and taking care of each other. But when their rulers say you will burn in hell or be damned for disobeying the group rulers, that is blasphemy!

    God is orders of magnitude beyond genius. But sadly Christians don't seem to think God can save on account of man's "omnipotent" free will thwarting God's plan.

    The problem with the Christian religion is that their religious leaders think God needs their help to 'spread the gospel' and 'save souls'. In truth, God has been spreading the gospel in spite of the Christian religion perverting it for sixteen plus centuries.
