These games don’t emulate very well in Xenia and never go on sale in the Xbox store. When I played these games back when they were new, I put in the work to 100% both games. It felt like playing the future of video games. Great graphics and sound, challenging gameplay and destructible environments.

I’m fascinated by the products made by Escura, a Japanese retro-camera maker that I just heard about. One of their more charming products is a handheld still/video camera in the shape of an Instax photograph, but you take the shot by looking through a transparent plastic pane in the middle.

The device has no screen. It takes crappy, narrow dynamic range, 1.3 MP pictures, and you can optionally apply a retro filter to the image. It takes 400×480 pixel videos at 30 fps (with sound). But it’s so cute and whimsical. The images instantly transport you back to the late 90s, because they look way worse than the photos you could take on a Nokia at the turn of the century.
