So, using my formula and adding in the number from July, here's the current list of my top most listened to of the year:
1. Mothica - Save Your Roses
2. AJR - The Big Goodbye
3. New Found Glory - King of Wishful Thinking
4. Ive - Blackhole; All Time Low - Monsters (tie)
6. Hanabie - Iconic; Ive - Bang Bang; Goldfinger ft Spencer Chanras - Derelict; Goldfinger ft Mark Hoppus - Freaking Out a Bit (Tie)
10. Whee In - Symphony of Fxxkboys (pronounced Fuckboys)
1 through 3 seem to be breaking away a bit more, which is fascinating to see. And Whee In is holding strong in the number 10 position. I listened to that song a lot in April and June especially. July I spent a lot of time in the car with my wife and kids, which led to a bit more straight up rock listening and Whee In's Symphony dropping off the list. Which tracks.

Hey everyone! Let's talk about music.
Something I did on my previous account was post up my top most listened to songs from my offline digital library each month. Concurrently, I've been using a made up math formula to figure out my top most listened to songs of the year by wiping my "Top Songs" playlist every single month and letting it refresh. I then assign a point value to each song based on their ranking from the month and do a running annual total.
Anyway...let's get into it.
For the month of July, here's my top 10 most listened to songs:

4. Tame Impalla ft. Jennie - Dracula
5. All Time Low - Monsters

Interestingly, only two K-Pop songs on the list for the month. Additionally, I got back into songs I hadn't listened to in a while in July including Starset's Dark Things and girl in red's Too Much.

“Woke” is an appropriated term that has become a colloquialism loosely meaning “having a moral compass” in the face of systemic oppression. Its original usage was “stay woke,” unintentionally coined by blues musician Lead Belly.
In a 1938 he was recording his song “Scottsboro Boys,” ending it with spoken word about the song’s meaning.

On November 30, 2022, I tooted for the first time on Mastodon.

Then I began tooting my #music and a ton of #puns #jokes, and #memes. Everyone here responded so genuinely, and with such positivity, that I was very quickly made to feel at home.
My deepest gratitude goes out to the #Mastodon community, a #community that has literally improved the quality of my time on this spinning rock as it hurtles through space, towards a future that seems more uncertain every day. You have been my friends, my therapists, my critics and fans, as well as an inspiration and reliable sounding board. Mastodon really is unlike any other “social media platform” out there.

Anyway, back to listening. I like it! I have heard of Chicago, but I can't name anything by them. Side 1 is very much rock/blues? I like it! Had to wash the whole thing off though... (bought replacement record liners since a bunch of these had no inner liners, and pretty sure straight cardboard does records no favors....)
"Loneliness Is Just A Word" definitely a fan of the organ/trumpet.
"I Don't Want Your Money" -- very blues.
FLIR now says 118F to 120F. target temp. Threw a big piece of card board to shade this, will let it flatten for an hour but in shade, not direct sun. Put the bricks on the bent section directly! I don't want to move it while it's still warm.
Will see if this is playable in a couple of hours.

A unique #theatrical #performance inspired by #Yiddish #folktales features dead #Jews dancing at a cemetery, a prophet appearing in the form of a bunny rabbit and a stone-munching worm named Shamir. It all takes place within the confines of a 2’ X 4’ box known as a #cranky and it’s coming to #NewYork later this month as part of the International #Puppet #FringeFestival.
For those unfamiliar with the decidedly low-tech medium, #crankies are portable stages through which a panorama is scrolled by cranking a pair of wooden dowels. The characters and scenery on the scroll are usually accompanied by #narration and #music, in this case a live #klezmer trio. In backlit crankies, #shadowpuppets can also be used for characters.
The cranky performance of #ShternaandtheLostVoice was created by the #MagidEnsemble, a far-flung interdisciplinary collective that includes a #storyteller, a #graphicartist and three former members of the #Boston klezmer band #Mamaliga."
#Random observation.
Having just started listening to LPs, there's definitely a single task/mindfulness aspect to the whole affair. Or can be.
i.e. put on a record (not doing anything else); look at the cover, read the liner notes (there are many!), read the lyrics. Tactile feedback in holding a record album, and also the scent of cardboard, dust, ozone off the stereo system.
(contrast with most digital music... bring up the track, listen to it on the phone or computer while surfing the internet/etc. etc. -- you're only engaging your ears, and through the interfaces you are used to).
Anyway, wonder if that is part of the appeal to this medium for some. (note that CDs do not provide the same full experience, i.e. missing the large album and liner notes). Yeah, it's not a superior audio medium in terms of quality or accuracy to recording, etc. etc., but there's another element here offered by the delivery mechanism.

Hmm, sure pays to be the odd person out in terms of trends, CDs falling out of the sky for free here. I guess everyone is just streaming or paying for music subscriptions (which is the wrong thing to do, IMHO... but you've got to be an independent thinker to not just be a consumer nowadays).
Someone had a pile of CDs for free here, snagged a bunch of albums I don't have (even digitally).

Steve Miller Band / Greatest Hits 1974-1978 (Fly Like An Eagle is good, don't think I know anything else)

The Very Best of Cream (I don't think I can name a single piece of music by them, lol... will have to see what that's about)

Jimmy Buffer (not a fan... but it was free. I associate this with a certain kind of drunk loafer in Florida beach towns... lol)
