#FreeCAD seems to be the most capable #FOSS #CAD package out there. #OpenSCAD looks nice, but it's more like a programming language.

#TinkerCAD is easy, but it's not FOSS, and they have a stinking #BindingArbitration clause now. 🤦‍♂️

#Blender is extremely capable, but not really meant for solid modeling, from what I can tell.

Zerion 3.0.2 is out, more stability fixes and refinements based on your feedback. Thanks to everyone who reported issues.

What’s next: we’re now working on expanding beyond Android. iOS is in development, and desktop builds for Linux (Flatpak) and Windows are on the way. Multi-device sync is coming too, one of the most requested features.

Still serverless, still over Tor, still open source. More as it lands.

Mastodon has always done what is best for #Mastodon. Over the years it has received lots and lots of criticism for that. I think the criticism was unwarranted. After all any #FOSS project is totally free to do what is best for it.

The problem is more that the 'fediverse community' if you can speak of that, and esp. the #ActivityPub developer community has let Mastodon get to where it is today, and insufficiently took its own path towards maturing the open standards and technology landscape. Leaving Mastodon forever in the driver's seat. Fediverse is now shaped in Mastodon's image, as a microblogging environment.

To this day #fediverse devs are super scared to break precious "Mastodon-compatibility", not showing the way to "Fediverse-compatibility". It is even unclear what "being part of the fediverse" even means, there's no consensus here.

Anyway, this is just a rant, but my rallying cry for making consolidation impossible is:

Zerion 3.0 is live. On Google Play now, with F-Droid and the APK following the release tag.

The big one: our own native protocol stack, replacing the inherited Bramble layers entirely. Post-quantum on every message (ML-KEM-768, ML-DSA-65 via Bouncy Castle).

Two new transports ship with it: opt-in I2P as an alternative to Tor, and a Bluetooth mesh that carries messages device to device with no internet at all. Tor stays the default.
