Things the OS authors don't want you to know:
* The #FreeBSD logo is Beastie, because it reminds you to dare, hack, and stop praying.
* The #Linux logo is Tux, because even penguins know what it is like to freeze with amdgpu.
* The #Windows logo is a window, because that is where you throw the PC after the third BSOD.
* The #OpenBSD logo is Puffy, because it’s the only fish that takes security more seriously than being edible.
* The #NetBSD logo is a flag, because if it boots on your hardware, they claim it as territory.
* The #DragonFlyBSD logo is a dragonfly, because every time you explain HAMMER2, people suddenly find somewhere else to be.
* The #macOS logo is an Apple, because one bite costs 999$, no 1999$, no 4999$. They soldered the RAM to keep the worms out.
* The #ChromeOS logo is #chrome because the operating system is just the browser admitting it won.
Nimda is a virus — a #malicious file-infecting #computer #worm. The first released advisory about this threat was issued on 18 September 2001. Nimda affected both user #workstations running Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, or XP, and servers running #Windows NT and 2000. The worm's name comes from the reversed spelling of "admin". F-Secure found the text "Concept Virus V.5, #Copyright 2001 R.P. #China" in the #Nimda code, suggesting its #country of origin.
🚨 The text is up https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/119/s5090/text for S.5090, a federal Digital Age Assurance Act, and it is very not good:
* There is no #OpenSource exemption!
* It requires users to “establish an account with the provider”. (§3(a)(1)(A)(i)) This makes local/offline accounts, as is typical on #Linux, #Windows 10, etc, illegal.
[see thread; there's much more]
This #ageVerification bill is a dramatic escalation in the politicians' war against #privacy and #FOSS. Call your senators!!!
