I think its not as much that #developers are gatekeeping, but more that work processes don't integrate well, or at all. To the benefit of the devs, who deliver the software at the end of the pipeline.

At the start of my career I worked at the largest Print company in Europe (now bankrupt) and we created several award-winning dynamic websites. At the time #UX wasn't a thing, but Interaction Design was and it was leading. It was also a time when we didn't have 'agile', and didn't have #Github where everything is either an Issue or a PR. There were waterfall processes, and on the agile side you later had things like #RUP (Rational Unified Process). These acknowledged specifally different IT roles and different stages in the overall development lifecycle.

For Social experience design, #SX, I got inspired by RUP when defining the #FSDL (the Free software development lifecycle, or Fediverse solution delivery lifecycle, depending on context). See:

Surrounding it is User experience (UX), which includes DX in our scope definition, and allows us to deliver socio-technical platforms. Outermost elipsis is Social experience design (SX) that holistically emcompasses both DX and SX and allows us to create socio-cultural solutions. SX takes us from individual needs, via inter-personal relationships, to leaving societal imprint.

I drafted a prototype for a PHP server application that automatically hashes and signs files and presents visitors with verification archives containing digital signatures for offline verification. The site allows readers to view, download, hash, and verify signatures of files. Since I occasionally like to publish puzzles and bits of cryptology, I just had to make this to scratch the old itch.

The neat thing about this design is that the current version has zero JavaScript. It uses CSS3 hacks with anchors and URL probing to emulate JavaScript and AJAX functionalities for modal dialogs to present server-side JSON data as HTML text.

When I upload files or documents to the server, the interface automatically presents them to the user in a grid. So now all I have to do is upload files and documents and the server generates the site.

The reader can then click buttons to hash, sign, view, verify, and download files.

GnuPG and OpenSSL Signatures are generated automatically on user demand. The site visitors can download these signatures and the public keys to verify files.

What should I add / change in the application and its interface?

What accessibility components might be warranted?

Should the application parse and present EXIF data, or is that too much?

Most irritating #mastodon feature after the update. When you reply or post (on mobile) the compose doesn't go back. So I keep having to do yet another action. Looks like every update increases the interaction with things I have to do. That's not great #ux 😬

#Python #pip: so, we have a bunch of `--no-*` options. You can also enable them via a configuration file. Some of them need to be assigned `true` to be enabled, while others need to be assigned `false` instead 🤡.

I'm in one of those, a touch screen is the worst design ever made, moods. Why anyone in my generation accepted this and thought this was a good idea is beyond me.

For the sighted folks following me, a bit of a history.

In recent iOS upgrades for me there has been a vast disconnect between navigation and typing. When typing, keys just don't register, keys are slow to process, keys are just sluggish in general when typing on the virtual keyboard. It is madenning.

I hear it is the same on the Android side, so this isn't just an Apple thing.

Despite navigation being fine, still, I'd even argue that to sighted folk, sometimes, a touch interface just doesn't work.

I'm a pretty good typist but it took me thrice as long to compose one of my lengthy text messages asking a very important question, than when I used my PC to send an SMS message. Why did our generation believe typing on glass is cool. Nobody can type on glass.

I'm a very skilled typist and it takes me nearly 10 minutes to fiddle with the awful latency on the keyboard running VoiceOver. Navigating the phone is better, somewhat, but Apple fucked up typing speed forever I feel and I am not even sure what they did.

This is a problem with all mobile phones, I feel, not just Apple.

I've heard from sighted folks the virtual keyboard doesn't work for them either.

The reason there are no more good ideas in tech is that every office has these "low odor" whiteboard markers. Ten years ago, every Design Thinking session participant was way more creative because they were strung out on marker fumes.
