I Do Not Like Voting

I have noticed a growing trend across the Indie and Small Web, algorithmic community-based voting to surface "good" blogs. Is the Indie Web beginning to experience its own voting evolution in the same vein as social media? Is the Indie Web part of an inevitable ouroboros?

    Seems like a neat way for independent #smolweb blogs to talk to each other without ridiculous overwrought social media crud.

    That and human.json seem like neat technologies worth investigating.

      "For instance is there anything similar to RSS for gopher."
      The best way is likely to write a bash script to construct an XML file with a page per channel.

      'cURL' should be useful since it support gopher, although you will have to custom script it.

      'Lynx' browser also handles gopher quite nicely and you should be able to use the -dump feature and parse what you want.

      'sfeed' may also help: https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/resolute/man1/sfeed_gopher.1.html

      Debian / Ubuntu APT Package Manager
      $ apt search gopher
      $ apt-get install gophernicus bombadillo lynx curl kristall pygopherd sfeed

      profit!

      Lynx is great for browsing gopher and nntp.

      Kristall is a graphical browser with gopher support.

If you don’t like what you see, then Gophie is also fully customisable!"
