But Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, himself a member of an elite sailing club, in a Facebook post criticized the lack of response from Zuckerberg’s superyacht. ā€œVessels are supposed to monitor channel 16 at all times, for this exact purpose,ā€ Whitehouse wrote. ā€œBillionaires don’t follow that rule either?ā€

The US government’s radio watchkeeping regulations require any vessel equipped with a VHF marine radiotelephone to maintain watch on channel 16—reserved for emergency messages—whenever the radiotelephone is not being used for communication. Marine radiotelephones typically have dual-watch or even tri-watch features that specifically enable monitoring of multiple channels, with the transmissions on the emergency channel automatically taking priority.

DJ Hairy Larry Presents Mark Sallings Playing Playhouse

      sbblues.com/2026/08/09/dj-hair

Thanks Marty. Today we’re going to hear an original song from a bluesman who lived in Wynne, Arkansas.

Mark Sallings and the Famous Unknowns were the house band at B.B. Kings in Memphis. Mark sang and played harmonica, sax, and keys. I got to know his wife, Sandi and Mark when he was playing at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Arkansas.

The Radio Image Framing Protocol (RIFP) 1.0 is an experimental, extensible standard for sending images over low-rate radio links.

The default rifp-cpfsk-4800 profile uses binary continuous-phase FSK and can be deployed around 433.92 MHz where local regulation permits it. RIFP itself is not tied to 433 MHz or to FSK and can be used in any frequency bands.

I'm still exploring various low-cost options for a device that can receive and display images on an e-ink screen in emergency areas or similar environments.

                                      a bit over exaggerated.
I have a radio from 12 years ago, a FRS radio, and it still works today.
though i also have a world receiver (as they're called).
This can play a bunch of stations, VHF, AIR, TV1/TV2 (though those analog tv algorithms are dead by now) and AM/FM.
is very useful. For instance, imagine this.
you have no internet connection at your house because either a thunderstorm knocked out, you have a repressive government, or a squirrel decided to eat your cables.
radio allows as a backup not just for entertainment, but for communication with the outside world.
When I was a child, I listened to the radio to get by. Sure, we have fancy algorithms, but radio doesn't need an algorithm to work, it just works.
and then you have purpose built radio stations that do not need advertisements, for example, NOAA / all hazards radio that reports the forecast , weather outlook, and, most importantly, emergency alerts for an area of all 50states.
Personally, besides VHF, I love AM radio not just for the talk, but the knowledge you just don't get from normal FM stations most of the time (yes, not even NPR radio stations).
I personally, 2 months ago, uploaded a set of tapes for a movement for Canadians mainly (Environment climate change canada) but anyone can watch it, called the bring back robot man tapes. robot man referring to the robot once on ECCC weatherradio canada, as material for trying to convince canada to bring back and showing Canadians what they are missing out on if this goes through.
you can view them here: https://blindsoft.net/bbrbm .
