Modern Pascal Is Busy Again | New Compilers, Congress, and Delphi’s Compliance Push

[note] Blaise, a modern Pascal compiler has been released that completely eliminates compiler modes, free, string types, and other bothersome legacy features.

CrabPascal compiler is written in Rust.

"Welcome to the June 2026 edition of Pascal News. In this episode, we look at a surprisingly active month across the entire Pascal ecosystem — from new compiler activity, to the International Pascal Congress starting next week, to Embarcadero’s recent focus on regulation‑aware software development, and more."

    is at on the Tiobe Index.

    Rumors of the death of Pascal language are greatly exaggerated.

      PANGRANDOMONIUM :

      Rhizome Function Anagram Random Generator

      preprint | https://zenodo.org/records/21551292

      doi | https://orcid.org/0009-0009-5144-3278

      Herein are described principles and a scheme of random number generation styled as, pangrandomonium, or ‘pangrand’. Pangrand is a anagrammatic random number generator that uses rhizome functions as chaotic indexing and shuffling instructions to reorder and sum perfect pangrams. Brief descriptions are given for the principles of pangram summing and rhizome indexing functions, Source code of the random number generator is included herewith. The source code is attached to the PDF file.

      Sections:

      1. Pangrams (Holoalphabetic arrays) ;
      2. Rhizome Functions ;
      3. Rhizome Hardness Problems ;
      4. Random Generator Methods ;
      5. Errata ;
      6. Source Code.

          Forgive my #NecroReplying...

          I've been thinking about re-learning #Pascal and maybe picking up #Lazarus as well (#Delphi's #FOSS spiritual successor)... Maybe start a renaissance of #GUI development? 😂

            Of all the programming languages that I had to learn over the years, my favourite is still Pascal. Many programmers hate Pascal because it has such a rigid structure, but my Pascal code has much fewer bugs than anything I write in any other language, exactly because that rigid structure keeps me from making a lot of stupid mistakes.
