@fsf How have you defended the projects that have been assigned to you?

Have you managed to get your assigned code removed from the companies like and ?

Happy to read more if you have a page where you detail your defense of projects assigned to you.

As far as I can tell, your defense is entirely in the abstract.

@erikarn please, should qcom, tcsr.h be added to the wiki?

Side note: it's not ideal that "base" has two quite different meanings …

If wins in the case and Vizio complies with the & , we should have the bare components ready to build an alternative firmware that can run something like Kodi instead on their TVs (aka their computers with a giant display attached).

I wonder if LG's are still -based? I did an enforcement action about 15 years ago and they were back then, and were in compliance, so you could rebuild & install the base operating system.

            LLMs and GPL [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

I guess if code generated from GPL code is not also GPL then the GPL license is useless.

Do open source people like the Free Software Foundation believe closed sourced people would accept it in the other direction?

Imagine if the Linux folk had invented a GPL code generator trained on Microsoft and Oracle code. Would those companies have gone "yep, you got us, that's fair use, enjoy!" Haha NEVER.

I am pro the technology but it has to be done ethically and with consent

Today is a good day to finally #GiveUpGitHub!

& now there's YA reason: last week, #GitHub urged the FOSS community to *oppose* important #California legislation that places transparency and consumer rights requirements on deployment of LLM-gen-AI!

GitHub's tactic? Disinformation claiming #FOSS licenses are incompatible with Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §22757 and California #SB1000 (which seeks to amend §22757).

🆕 blog! “Which Copyleft Licence is Suitable for an SVG?”

The Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format is amazing. It allows you to precisely define how an image should look. Written in XML, it uses various mathematical operations to display an image which looks crisp and clear at any size.

                Here's a trivial example:

Why The Linus Torvalds Is Irredeemably Corrupt
[quote] "The legal instrument protecting your rights as a user of Linux is less important than the commercial ecosystem built on top of it. And that commercial ecosystem as we have established is controlled by the same corporations paying a half a million dollars a year for board seats at the Linux Foundation. ... The message ... enforce the GPL, lose your friends ... violate it openly ... get a seat on the board ... The GPL is not dead but its enforcement mechanism has been systematically dismantled by the very organization that claims to steward it."
                  [synopsis]

Linux Foundation has squelched the voice of the lay contributors and now corporations control the decision-making process.

Now that your contributions to GPL'd free software have created mega-millionaires and billionaires ... those same rich fat cats that profited from your free code now want to keep you from sharing your own free code or profiting from it while they violate the software license to cash in. They promote ideology campaigns employing useful idiots and ideological parrots to insulate themselves from criticism and hold themselves above reproach from the people they are exploiting to build their tech empire. The Linux Foundation has joined the empire.

I have said before that a new alternative operating system is required if software freedom and privacy are to survive. Linux is not the resistance against the system. Linux is the system.

We'll examine the intricate relationship between user space and the linux kernel developer, diving into how these components interact and influence the broader linux internals. This video aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the situation, explaining the nuances of these operating systems and the impact on open source software.

Linux is married to AI hegemony. It's time for a new and better OS. Skift might become a candidate:

                    SkiftOS : https://skiftos.org/

                    It's not a *NIX!

"skiftOS isn’t POSIX. It’s a fresh API and userland inspired by Plan 9, Haiku, and Fuchsia. Familiar ideas, different contracts."

Problem: the GPL is poison. It has polluted Linux and the Linux userland software so that only large corporations can afford to monetize it. BSD License or MIT License would be much better allowing small players to produce unique work without then being forced to share their source code with the AI hegemony racket.
