With the recent news about Bambu Studio's AGPL violations, this advice on how to handle a protracted period of “incomplete-ccs” from a vendor is very much needed.

[quote] "The legal instrument protecting your rights as a user of Linux is less important than the commercial ecosystem built on top of it. And that commercial ecosystem as we have established is controlled by the same corporations paying a half a million dollars a year for board seats at the Linux Foundation. ... The message ... enforce the GPL, lose your friends ... violate it openly ... get a seat on the board ... The GPL is not dead but its enforcement mechanism has been systematically dismantled by the very organization that claims to steward it."[synopsis]
Linux Foundation has squelched the voice of the lay contributors and now corporations control the decision-making process.
Now that your contributions to GPL'd free software have created mega-millionaires and billionaires ... those same rich fat cats that profited from your free code now want to keep you from sharing your own free code or profiting from it while they violate the software license to cash in. They promote ideology campaigns employing useful idiots and ideological parrots to insulate themselves from criticism and hold themselves above reproach from the people they are exploiting to build their tech empire. The Linux Foundation has joined the empire.
I have said before that a new alternative operating system is required if software freedom and privacy are to survive. Linux is not the resistance against the system. Linux is the system.

SkiftOS : https://skiftos.org/
It's not a *NIX!
"skiftOS isn’t POSIX. It’s a fresh API and userland inspired by Plan 9, Haiku, and Fuchsia. Familiar ideas, different contracts."
Problem: the GPL is poison. It has polluted Linux and the Linux userland software so that only large corporations can afford to monetize it. BSD License or MIT License would be much better allowing small players to produce unique work without then being forced to share their source code with the AI hegemony racket.

Annoyed that PyCharm are adding a keylogger and uploading every bit of text you open in the IDE, including secrets, to steal for their business.
They say they will use "regex and other filters" to avoid processing personal data but that is so inadequate.
Not to mention that even if I don't use PyCharm, if other people open my GPL projects then my copyright gets laundered away. It's disheartening. I feel taken advantage of.
@rootwyrm @david_chisnall @davidgerard @0xabad1dea @dougwade @zeyus yeah, and the gew cases of litigation in terms of enforcement backfired hard as well...
That being said in #Germany said #GPL licenses get enforced by courts - as #Fritz! (nee #AVM) found out the hard way.
Hey fedi, I'm considering making the EUPL v1.2 my default software license, anybody have a good reason why I shouldn't?
Note, I am only interested in copyleft licenses, so I'm not even considering things like Apache or MIT, but I'll gladly hear about problems it has that other copyleft licenses don't.
