Proud to be a supporter of This Week in Video Games. The statement TWIV got from the Saber CEO about their next game is completely unhinged.
2000s: big game companies publish their old games for free download, because they aren't selling them anymore, and who would buy them anyway? Also, that's good marketing to sell new games.
2020s: big game companies are impotent to make new games that aren't crap. Instead, they keep selling old games, remasters of old games (both "enhancing" and "retro" remasters) and reboots of old games.
#AIvideo Experiment
The starting image was made today, but with an old #StableDiffusion AI model by #StabilityAI, which renders with a CPU only, and does not require a video card.
To make the video and audio, newer tools were required.
I actually prompted #Kling to use hands with six fingers (like AI used to make) and Kling refused to do it!

I love what some people are doing in reaction to Sony's announcement. This is one of the particularly good ones.

I am running The Dragons Egg and playing in my daughter Sarah's game of Dungeon Crawl Classics.
I look forward to seeing my whole family there. The family that games together ...
Gonna be fun!

Thanks all for your help.
To the best of my ability I have implemented Gene's code review suggestions and I have uploaded the current version to the repository.
mdh, the program is now broken on sbcl. I get an error.
Lock on package COMMON-LISP violated when globally declaring *RANDOM-STATE* SPECIAL while in package COMMON-LISP-USER.
I'm also wondering if there's a better way to do while(true) than
while(= 1 1)

I wrote my first computer game, MathSlap.
Game by @Carl.
Program by @hairylarry@mastodon.social
It's in lisp and runs in a terminal.
You can play solo or multiplayer on the internet by sharing your terminal window.
It was a learning exercise for me. An easy program to get me started with lisp.
Here's the repository.

I think most linux distros come with clisp. Also runs on windows and mac.
Let me know if you run it or if you have trouble running it.
Thanks
So I have "gaming" #laptop which came with 500 GB #nvme drive and space for other #HardDisk. I moved system (three partitions, /, /home and /opt which I somehow use like D drive on Windows
) to this nvme and put 500 GB #ssd drive from previous laptop in empty space. This ssd drive is used for #Steam library as a whole. And later I got 5 TB drive (not ssd) for birthday and it's also used for additional Steam library. And now it's almost half full.
What's wrong with me?
Researchers in England, equipped with a 3D printer, created a playable replica of Roman Britain’s most popular board game, Ludus Latrunculorum.
Soldiers and civilians alike enjoyed the strategy game Ludus Latrunculorum in the Roman Empire, especially in Roman Britain

I am going to work on my code some more to include your suggestions and resolve all the warnings. I will also write something about how to play the game.
I will run these changes by both of you.
Then I will submit it to screwlisp's zine.
Thanks for all your help. It is, intentionally, a very simple project but I have learned so much about how to code lisp.
Not sure what the lines of code do but I know how the game is played.
You take a deck of cards and remove the royals. This gives you Ace through 10 with Ace = 1.
You deal two cards. If someone can make an equation they slap the table. They say their equation and everyone agrees or disagrees.
If no one can make an equation you deal another card.

Hmm.. I think the reason I love games like OldSkool RuneScape and World of Warcraft Classic (vanilla) so much is because of the lack of micro transactions
The nostalgia part is mostly knowing everyone needs to work for their stuff and not just swipe a credit card
The old style graphics is just a super nice bonus!
The story and world building so far has been great and I like how the game lets me engage as much as I want with the lore -- or if I don't want to, just skip things. The music in the game has been rather good too.
I have one issue with the game right now and it is with the controls. For a game that has its gameplay built around the timing of actions (counters, dodges and platform jumping), the controls are really unresponsive and sluggish. This is especially frustrating with the platform jumping parts of the game (so far there has been a good lot of them).
I'm going to power through the game and deal with the unresponsive controls because of the story and art direction. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this game at full price though. I'll follow up when I finish the game or if I stop playing at some point.

Good for you! I also quit #games. And I was addicted to them for a time. They were like a drug to me. And because the content of the games was dark, it gradually made my heart more and more dark. I thank the Lord for saving me from ruin, and making me free. The truth is far more interesting to me now than these fictional games.
I also played Prince of Persia! And I agree that the movements were more fluid and lifelike than previous games. I wasted many hours on that game, time I cannot get back.
It looks like you Russians played the same games as we played here in the USA! We are not as different as the world powers would lead us to believe.
#Diablo = Devil = Дьявол
LORD OF DESTRUCTION = ВЛАСТЕЛИН РАЗРУШЕНИЯ
I remember playing this game, when I did not believe in anything #spiritual. These #games were and are seductive. We did not know how ignorant we were. Many are still in darkness and are blind, not knowing anything about reality, namely, that we are in Satan's world. Everything that is great in this world is an abomination to God.

I have just specced a lisp game in my mind. Should be easy enough for me to write.
The game is MathSlap, invented by @Carl to be played with a deck of playing cards with no royals. (A-10)
Two numbers are placed face up. If you can make an equation from these numbers using any math symbols but no more numbers you slap the table. Then you say your equation and it's evaluated for correctness. If no one can make an equation another card is dealt.
Was Pong the first mainstream video game addictive?
Yes, he really was!
Despite the disarming simplicity of the graphics today.
Especially since it was already a multiplayer game. The challenge was significant, for frenzied games.. over several hours. You plugged the console into your TV, and.. beep.. ..beep!
I played it for the first time in the mid 70s.
