I've generally been suspicious of free speech for a while, so I wrote an essay articulating why. We’ve all likely heard that the freedom to swing one’s fist ends at the tip of another’s nose. I can accept this without argument for this assertion. Your freedom TO violates my freedom FROM. These freedoms should cancel out.

Après avoir laissé Israël l'entraîner dans une guerre illégale

Rant about bans, concerned [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

I've just read that the UK banned for life selling of tobacco to everyone born after January 1st 2009.
I don't smoke, but I find such news deeply concerning.
They want to have a "no-smoking generation", hence they ban for life (!!) selling tobacco to grown-up people. I'm absolutely favorable towards such a ban for minors, but a grown-up person must be free to do whatever he or she wishes, if it doesn't hinder or disturb other people.
and when someone bans something, I, as a person born and raised in the USSR, immediately ask: what's next? Because banning mechanism is a very tempting thing, and it always is done supposedly for someone's good.
Russia blocks websites and messengers because of so-called security. Iran and the same Russia shut down mobile Internet also because security is the most important thing. Yes, of course (tag sarcasm).
So, today it's tobacco, what's next? Will they ban sugar? Meat? Because of so-called "healthy generations", ecology, climate changes and what not?
I am and will always be against such moves. A human being must be free, and freedom and love are the only values worth to fight for.

"Fully open source" is very misleading and fairly irrelevant.

The app may very well be open source, but the full age verification pipeline can never be, or at least not deployable by just anyone. The "verfication" part needs a trusted source. Otherwise, the verification value becomes meaningless.

Google's Developer Verification mandates real-identity registration for app developers starting September 2026 on certified Android devices 📱.

F-Droid, EFF, and FSF warn it threatens open-source repos, centralizes Google control, and endangers developer privacy 🔒.

The Solution: A Comprehensive Privacy Bill

The bill imposes hard limits on , hidden collection, “consent,” brokered data trafficking, and government circumvention of what should be a lawful process balancing with evidence of wrongdoing. It restores rule-based protections people can understand and courts can enforce.

Google brings Chrome to Linux ARM64 devices 🧩.

Feels ironic. Most people switch to Linux for privacy and freedom — not to install a data‑harvesting browser from the company they’re escaping 🔒.
