soc.octade.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

I might be an old fuddy-duddy, but to me FIGLET FONTS are still cutting edge and highly relevant user interface tools.

What other figlet-like tools wait for me to explore?

    It seems like a lot of new have all sorts of clever variable options and OpenType alternative gimmicks.

    Reminder: these don't work reliably if you're using them to theme desktop software, which often exposes fewer typographic knobs than CSS.

    I've seen the same font (Cal Sans Text Geo) render noticably differently on the same system in Qt vs Tk apps (big tells: the "a" and "1" didn't switch over) Maybe there are magic XFT names to invoke more consistency, or manual font rebuilds.

      Forget dafont or whatever other font site you use. Did you know that the internet archive has tonnes of professional fonts on CDs. Using discmaster.textfiles.com/ makes browsing the fonts so easy!
