Today was supposed to include a day trip for our little family. It turns out that today wasn't the best day. My husband had a restless night with muscle cramps so Summer and I had a restless night providing warm rice packs and massage to get through the worst.
Today will be focused on rest and recovery.
We decided to save our picnic stuff for the weekend and choose a closer destination.
It's all good.
Summer still needed a good run so I ran her down the hill.
She says to tell you that she loves her Mastodon friends.

Summer and I were working at cross purposes this morning.
Since we were on a trail less traveled with poor visibility I was slightly worried about finding the trail back again.
I know Summer will take me to the car if I ask but we were at least three miles from the parking lot and even though she will get me there it isn't always the easy way.
I decided to take off my stocking cap and hang it on a stick to mark the trail.
Summer waited until I was down the beach a ways and she disappeared.
A few minutes later here she came with my hat. She was so proud of herself.
She really is a good girl.
It worked out.
We found our way home in the end.

Allie's been doing awesome today! Thanks everyone for the advice! She has to be carried outside, but once she's in the cold she perks right up. She loves the cold. She even walked all the way from the back coverall into the house with no problems. Her head shaking is almost gone, and she seems a lot happier (unless we're carrying her)

We are enjoying this morning moment. We are all feeling perky and happy to be together.
We decided to save the worries for tomorrow. Not that there isn't plenty to worry about but a rest is in order. I even took off my Fitbit in favor of a free day.
Warm apple turnovers for breakfast with rich dark coffee.
We reminded each other of challenging times past and our good fortune in surviving and beating all the odds. We are so lucky and we are thankful.
