attention to all #blind people using bsid-js. the overhaul from #gemini to #cloudflare #workers #ai is complete. the model we are using is@cf/meta/llama-3.2-11b-vision-instruct . this is more of an emergency overhaul because Gemini was not only taking too slow, but was pushing the limit of cloud flare workers, as cloud flare workers have time limits that must be met. also, if you see a command called /agree, don't worry about it. that was a one-time command I had to run to get it to agree to the meta licensing agreement. this is more of a beta. please test it, and make new commits if you find any problems. • The main success factor for #Linux is not only it's #licensing but also that it coopted #GAFAMs into being contributors that pay key #developers.

And since they all have stakes with partially diverging interests, this is a useful way to take their resources (personnel hours and money) for something good (instead of them wasting it on #Enshittification, #Cyberfascism and #Militarization)…

I do see a lot if mid #rewrites in #Rust just for the sake of rewriting it in Rust…

• What I do need however are #ReproduceableBuilds for @OS1337 and ideally simple & compact enough to make "#SelfHosting" not a demotivating & masochistic endeavour, so like with #C it should not require an internet connection on the build machine.

Because the final / release build may be done on a fully #airgapped system in a fukky airgapped facility that the #developers never be allowed inside or even get to know where it is and what system it powers...

Sadly it does because it will necessitate "#Developer #Verification" for EVERY #apk / #xapk file regardless of source.

• So even @fdroidorg and other #3rdPartyAppStores and even single #Developers wanting to #install their own #Apps (aka. "#Sideloading") will be subject to it because without a #Google-issued #Developer #Certificate, they won't eve able to install their own #App|s on their own devices!

This is worse than #Apple because Apple doesn't mandate #Devs to #selfdox for simply shoving a self-signed App on their #iPhone or #iPad!

• In fact tools like #AltStore automate that process for #iOS!

Without #Regulators like @BNetzA & @EUCommission forcing them into compliance this will only get worse!

• Meanwhile Malicious Actors just use straw people, cuz it'll be trivial for someone posing as a delivery person to quickly copy/scan the ID of some elderly person when claiming they got a delivery for them that'll require age verification (i.e. adult games, porn, alcohol and tobacco), and they'll likely mistake it as something like a gift order by some relative...

@adisonverlice the problem is that this is mandatory "#SelfDoxxing" and puts genuine #developers at risk whilst also empowering malicious actors.

• In fact I know multiple developers that'll refuse to do this shit as a matter of principle - myself included!

IDK if you've read and/or understood the original post by Google, but this will apply to EVERY ANDROID DEVELOPER regardless if they ever put their #Apps on #GooglePlay or prefer to distribute manually (requiring device owners to manually "allow 3rd party app sources") or whatever.

• It's the sheer principle!

I'm not shure if @LineageOS / #lineageOS, @e_mydata / #eOS or @GrapheneOS / #GrapheneOS will go out of their way to disable this since I assume this is enforced with the "#GooglePlay Services Framework" but I'm convinced #Google will mandate it for every Google Play - enabled & -certified device!

Seriously, this will harm #FLOSS & #Privacy of #users and #developers and given the details WILL BE USED to enforce a #ban on #Tor and #VPN|s because there's no valid reason to expect otherwise!!!

I've yet to see a compelling reason to pick up an #8thGenConsole much less a #9thGenConsole as the pricing for #Consoles and #Games shoots up but there are fewer and fewer games worth the effort...

• Cuz even if we ignore the #UsedMarket out of fairness, there's not really anything that worth spending €500+ / $500+ on a console with controller and a game when the same game can be subjectively experienced better on a #PC that one is kinda forced to own anyway to a degree because our #online world necessitates us to do things like #eMail and most people won't stop #OnlineShopping, #OnlineBanking and all the other things even if they could feasibly choose to do so to begin with.
