soc.octade.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

    Thanks for reminding me about the binary sharing thing thats awesome. I also have to imagine that briar group chats will be quicker and more convenient to organise groups of people than ad hoc communication.

    Ideally meshtastic should one day allow global communication; I've heard that a single low power radio node has kilometers of range

      In these situations Briar messenger briarproject.org is better because they have mesh networking using bluetooth and or wifi which can allow a crowd to communicate even when theres no internet

      Meshtastic does something similar but requires custom lora radio nodes to have already been placed nearby
