Het gaat goed. Hier geven we de toekomst van sociale media vorm, die toekomst begint vandaag! De #fediverse is van niemand. Er is geen eigenaar die ons de wet voorschrijft. Uiteraard dien je je wel netjes aan de regels van je 'instance' (server) te houden en aan de (Nederlandse) wet, maar dat spreekt natuurlijk voor zich. De beheerders, administrators en moderators, van de 'instances' (servers) zien toe en de nadruk ligt daarbij op de vrijheid van meningsuiting en fatsoen.

These platforms enrich billionaires, expand surveillance, and fund the cult of capitalist war, all while trapping us with addictive algorithms that feed us mindless content. It feels necessary to be on these platforms to "stay connected", yet paradoxically they increase our isolation. Their purpose is to extract profit, not to help us connect.

Instead of jumping between online capitalist corporate platforms, we propose a radical alternative that's actually aligned with punk values: the Fediverse, a network for open, autonomous, decentralized, not-for-profit, and DIY social media.

I am so old that I remember the world wide web being born. It was great back in the day.

I also remember the tipping point. In my opinion it was around 1996/1997.

After that it has been on a downward spiral with ever growing speed. Only to land on this cesspool that we experience today.

Fediverse is, at least for me, an oasis in the middle of a landfill. A shining star in the dark, deserted dystopian hellspace.

Let's keep it shining the light.

(Yes. I did try to use the web for research today. That went down in flames.)

We have people coming in to loops.video, you're calling it #fediverse, they're calling it fedi, you running ads that it's fedi, but it's not proper federated.

If you say things like that, we are going to lose the one chance to show people what it means!

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the instance mastodon.social is 30% of the entire #Fediverse. If it ever goes down for any reason, a huge chunk of the Fediverse will go down.

It defeats the purpose of having a fully decentralized network if most people pile into a single instance.

The obvious drawback is that you need to know how to use a command line, but I doubt that would bother most Fediverse dwellers.
