Поставил Ente. Позиционируют себя как «замена Google Photo», амбициозненько 😉 А по факту имеем:

• опенсорц, как вы любите 😉
• 10 Гб в облаке бесплатно; платные тарифы дорогие, есть селфхост
• e2ee шифрование: сервер не видит фоток, не использует для обучения и т.д.
• клиент-галерея для Android, десктопное приложение, веб-версия
• простенький и плохой редактор
• можно делиться фоточками, создавать альбомы для загрузки фоточек другими людьми (без регистрации)
• на десктопе есть синхронизация как в режиме «папка в обе стороны», так и бэкап всего облака на компьютер (в одну сторону)
• можно перемещать фоточки в альбомы, независимые от родной галереи (на десктопе, соответственно, синхронизированная папка обновится)

А теперь самое интересное. Есть Machine Learning (не называют это AI, за что отдельное спасибо). Причем локальный. Причем даже на телефоне (на десктопе что-то сфейлил, но синхронизировался с телефоном). Тяжело, долго, однако 1,5 Гб фоток на моем тапке в конце концов переварил. Распознает лица, а главное — сюжет, цвета и вот это всио. Не слишком точно, но собрать «все фотки с котятами» вполне реально (в выдачу, разумеется, могут попасть и щеночки 😉). В целом выглядит очень круто. Плохо, что нет возможности открыть найденную фотку в том месте, где она лежит рядом с остальными.

Да, требует КВН на всех платформах 😥

В целом, впечатление производит очень положительное, функционал интересный, в 10 Гб влезет 3–5 тыс. фоток, я ХЗ, много это или мало для телефона (хотя телефон тут не является обязательным элементом: есть десктопный клиент со всем функционалом и веб-версия — без индексации, т.к. всё локально происходит).

Almost 20 years ago, Google pitched Android as the more open alternative to Apple's walled garden. Last year, Google announced it would begin erecting its own walls through #developer #verification. The company has issued an update on its plans, affirming that the verification system will begin rolling out in select countries later this year. We're also learning which app stores are participating in verification & the timeline for key features like the recently revealed "advanced flow" for bypassing verification.

Google has claimed that developer verification is a necessary change to #smartphone software distribution, pointing to the increased prevalence of #scams that trick Android users into installing #malware apps. Google's solution requires verifying the identities of developers outside the Play Store just like it does for devs publishing on its platform.

This week: WhatsApp patched a flaw where a single crafted message could make your phone load content from an attacker’s URL. And India’s Telegram ban is now reaching users in the UAE too, a national court order cutting off people in another country entirely.

Two different problems, same root cause: centralized apps are both attack surfaces and single points of control.

Headline: voice calls now work reliably in both directions. Everything runs over Tor, no STUN, no TURN, no VoIP server — just two devices finding each other through onion services. Getting that stable took work. This is the release where it is.

ATT limited some tracking. Meta Pixel was a workaround. Fingerprinting is another one — and it doesn't need any permissions at all. While this isn't limited to just iOS — Android can be mined as well, Loupe is an open source iOS app that shows you the raw data your phone hands out by default. The third tier of signals is genuinely creepy.

Nonetheless, the appearance of ‘device attestation’ in Firefox’s mobile codebase has raised eyebrows in the #FOSS #community, including from #mobile projects based on the #Android Open Source Project (AOSP) codebase, like #LineageOS and #GrapheneOS, which omit Play services.

Given that Firefox’s entire USP on Android is that it’s an open-source, privacy-respecting alternative for those avoiding #Google (and open-source, privacy-conscious users often run non-stock Android) it’s a move that, short of further explanation, rubs some the wrong way.
