There's something wonderfully peaceful about a cat napping in its favorite spot.
I love the soft light, the relaxed pose, and the feeling of complete contentment. It's the kind of scene that reminds us to slow down and appreciate life's simple comforts.

Warm neutral tones, expressive watercolor textures, and gentle brushwork create a sense of comfort, quiet, and home. This charming feline portrait celebrates the simple joy of a restful afternoon and makes a wonderful addition to living rooms, bedrooms, reading nooks, offices, or any space designed for relaxation.
Perfect for cat lovers, pet owners, veterinarians, animal rescue supporters, and anyone who appreciates cozy home decor, this watercolor print complements farmhouse, cottage, traditional, Scandinavian, and modern interiors with its calming palette of warm beige, taupe, cream, soft brown, and muted gray.

The cat shelter is open for business! It still needs some work, but the bare minimum is there.
This is the first night the feral momma cat and her female kitten are staying overnight in the shelter.
There are currently 15 cats living with us.... Many are inside the house. We are just about at full capacity! Neither of the two cats shown in this video have yet allowed me to pet them. I hope they will become tame enough for me to take them to the vet to get spayed.

Storing old hardware over many years has been good for my current cat shelter construction project. These bolts were found in my collection.... and I was able to match them to nuts and washers. It looks like I have enough to finish this project, without needing to drive to the store to buy more parts.

@poleguy
I see you are still investigating.
By the way, your cat appears to be a good companion, and as cats all over the world have determined: a simple, used cardboard box makes a suitable bed. Your cat is doing its part in preventing cardboard from going to the landfill.
(When my cats are done with boxes, I usually burn the cardboard in my wood stove, and the ash is spread out on the ground, with none of it going to the landfill.)
The cat shelter is almost done. I had some set-backs in the construction, like a 24-hour power outage. But the feral momma cat (solid black) and some of her kittens (from two different litters) are getting used to eating in it. I hope to make the door today. (It will be my first time making a door.)
I currently have 15 cats! Many of them are inside the house.

A package arrived a few days ago. The cats have claimed it as their own. I am having a difficult time opening the box, because I know that once I do, their perch will no longer hold them up. When the knife cuts the box open, they will lose their furniture. I will see how long my wife tolerates this....
Cat Shelter Construction In-Progress
The feral, black momma cat has now brought two different litters to my house. Her current litter is nearly weened, so I am in a race to finish constructing this shelter, where I plan to isolate the momma cat (who has never let me pet her, and sometimes hisses at me) and keep her fed and safe in this shelter, while preventing the male neighborhood cats from getting her pregnant again. I already have 15 cats! (Some are indoors.)

when our beloved old kitties passed away a few years ago, i wanted a place to go speak with them, as you would with relatives at a shrine in many cultures. my wife and i found some old stones at the river, and she painted and sealed them. they now rest in our garden where i can visit them everyday.
today, she made a stone for two robins who horseplayed themselves into our front window and passed away earlier this spring. they are buried in our front garden near the cat stones.

Elder Kitty (about 10 years old) has decided that at bed time she is due chest sitting time. She will get quite bossy and verbal if I'm late coming to bed.
As soon as I lay down, boom, cat on the chest. She stands then lays down sphinx like. Then the required making of muffins on my neck (ouch!).
She sniffs my beard, I guess we both have white fur? Then pushing of the head under my hand, so I can provide sufficient head, ear, chin, and cheek scritches.
Then, she sneezes in my face.

A quotation from Agnes Repplier
She has frolicsome moods, in which a thimble, a shoe-buttoner, a scrap of paper, or a piece of string will drive her wild with delight; she has moods of inflexible gravity, in which she stares solemnly at her favorite ball rolling over the carpet, without stirring one lazy limb to reach it. “Have I seen this foolish toy before?” she seems to be asking herself with musing austerity; “and can it be possible that there are cats who run after such frivolous trifles? Vanity of vanities, and all is vanity, save only to lie upon the hearth-rug, and be warm, and think grave thoughts to feed a serious soul.”

CALVIN: It offends the human ego that nature is indifferent to us. Nature doesn’t care if people live or die. It refuses to be tamed. It does whatever it wants and acts like people don’t matter. It won’t confirm our right to be here. That drives people crazy. We can’t stand being ignored. It’s insulting and … hey!

A quotation from Charles Bukowski
Having many cats is good. If you feel bad, you look at the cats and you feel better, because they know that everything is just the way it is. You don’t have to be nervous about anything. And they know it. They are saviors. The more cats you have, the longer you will live. If you have a hundred cats, you will live ten times longer than if you have ten. One day, this will be known and people will have thousands of cats. It’s truly ridiculous.
