            Here’s an image for tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) lovers. It kind of reminds me of a little guy in a uniform, standing with his hands behind his back, watching a parade go by. I said “guy,” but honestly I have no idea—tufted titmice aren’t sexually dimorphic, so this one could just as easily be a she.

            Tufted titmice are a favorite among a select group of bird enthusiasts. To celebrate these charming creatures, I’ve curated a special collection dedicated entirely to them in my photo gallery. Take a look!

              Good morning. 🌳🌳🌳

              We’re headed to Alexandria this morning for an appointment, and we treat these outings like a full‑blown day on the town. You might even say we’re wilding. We’ll probably grab a bite at some fancy restaurant and maybe wander through Sam’s Club. I know—completely out of control.

              The only downside to making this trip at this time of year is the love bugs. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: they will absolutely decorate the front of my car.

              Honestly, I don’t take my car out much anymore. There’s just nowhere I want to go badly enough to justify the trouble of actually going. Still, it’s only two years old and already has over 10,000 miles on it, mostly from visiting relatives. One day it might qualify as that mythical car driven by a little old man who only took it to church on Sundays. Of course, I’d have to start going to church for that to be true—and I’m not exactly “little.”

              Speaking of driving, something amusing happened at a doctor’s appointment a few days ago. I was asked, “Do you still drive?” It felt like a rite of passage, the same kind of moment as when we stopped at Golden Corral years ago and were automatically given the Senior Citizen discount without asking. Unfortunately, that was nearly two decades ago.

              C’est la vie. The beat goes on, at least for now.

                                                I am a quiet and calm wildlife photographer. I move slowly. I pause often. I feel, smell and listen to nature around me. Sometimes wildlife gets close because they trust me or they are just curious.

                                                Recently a family of Black-tailed deer, 2 females and their fawns, walked towards me and then around me while foraging. They were so close that I could have touched them. I didn't. I remained still.

I'm using leaves quite regularly, usually for some tea. One is supposed to pick the 'holey' leaves for their 'better' properties. Some people even believe the other leaves are poisonous.
