I have an old unused Windows PC that I would like to wipe and replace the OS with some sort of Linux. I need something that will be relatively easy and quick to get running (and hopefully have graphic interface of some kind)

My purpose is just to play. I have 0 Linux experience but a whole life/career in software/technology.

Looking for recommendations, urls and instructions.

There's hardly any content to this blogpost, since the title rather says it all.

My friend has an ubuntu laptop and forgot her password. It logs in to her account on boot, but obviously not having the password is not a sustainable situation.

What's the least disruptive way to sort this out? Can I just boot off a stick and clear /etc/password is there a better way forward?

              an 11 06:59:11 hostname postfix/lmtp[158690]: 31814C0E6E: to=xxx@xxx.xx, relay=xxx.xxx.xx[private/dovecot-lmtp], delay=405, delays=405/0.03/0.02/0.04, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (host xxx.xxx.xx[private/dovecot-lmtp] said: 550 5.1.1 xxx@xxx.xx User doesn't exist: xxx@xxx.xx (in reply to RCPT TO command))
