Dear Cupid,
Can you please aim a quiver's worth of arrows at some companies so they would send me a job interview invites? Please. I'm a lonely heart still looking for work (in all the wrong places), but no one is sharing the love. I know a variety of languages like English, French, #C, #Erlang, #C#, #Java, or #NodeJS. Been looking to #Go polish some #Rust too. I make for a great work date on any flavour of #BSD or #Linux, but #NoAI (it never works like in the commercials and eats batteries galore).
Send me a job love letter for Valentine's Day, please?

They do a pay what you can. With a bit of searching the .iso's can be found.
I have been running Fedora/RHEL for work and Debian derrivatives, NetBSD at home for a long time.
Modern Gnome has been giving me gas and it is time to try something new. Some systems here run Mate(Gnome2), has been clunky but good enough. Sound and bluetooth now required.
Just about to dive in to my fresh new #Linux Mint install (on a VM for now, to experiment with).
You win this round, Fediverse nerds.
It's three days later and I've already tried five different distros.
Also my phone keeps autocorrecting "distros" to "disastrous" which is probably a metaphor for something.

Just FYI, day 61 of #DailyDriving #FreeBSD.
Zero complaints! I mean, zero serious complaints. There are one or two minor things I haven't figured out yet, but for the most part, it feels just like #Linux, except that, you know... it has DOCUMENTATION. 😂
I think #Windows is even worse than we suggest. I had a bunch of "bricked" laptops that I've now improved with #Ubuntu and they all run great. Why did we ever put up with that ridiculous, circling ring? Why was it ever okay to stop whatever process and begin an update? I wonder if there are other terrible products that we've accepted simply because they're ubiquitous.

Is there any way to access my files if I can't login as myself? My standard login suddenly gives me a flashing, crazy screen with no interaction except a moving cursor. But I can still login from a USB as a live session user, so I wondered if I could get to those files from there. I've been trying to use su - in the terminal but it doesn't recognize my actual username. I really need to rescue some files from this computer. Any tips are appreciated.
UPDATE: this seems to have resolved itself. I think it was due to the launcher not being able to connect to a server.
Can any minecraft users on #Linux help me with an issue?
I use the official launcher and have never had a problem before. It's been a while since I ran it. Today when I started it, instead of opening the launcher like normal it just opened the Chromium browser! And that isn't even my default browser.
So I ran it ("minecraft-launcher") from the terminal to see if there was an error message and it just said "Opening in existing browser session."
I downloaded the launcher again from minecraft.net and re-installed. The same thing happened. Tried both the .deb and the tar from there.
Anyone know what this is about? I'm running Linux Mint 21.3, still on 5.15 kernel.

There is a lot of movement away from Windows. I hope the trend continues.

I have an old unused Windows PC that I would like to wipe and replace the OS with some sort of Linux. I need something that will be relatively easy and quick to get running (and hopefully have graphic interface of some kind)
My purpose is just to play. I have 0 Linux experience but a whole life/career in software/technology.
Looking for recommendations, urls and instructions.
