A crowd gathered & shouted, āLet them go,ā at the agents. Agents ripped another man from his car & detained him after other community members tried to put themselves in front of him.
āItās actually horrifying,ā said a friend of one of the men detained, who did not want to be identified. Minutes earlier, the person had just seen the man standing there.
āIt happens so fast. You prepare, but then you donāt know what to do,ā the person said.
About 15 mins before that incident, #Bovinoās caravan stopped in the H Mart grocery store parking lot in Niles & detained another man who was just walking through the lot.
Fridayās arrests began around 9:30AM in the Albany Park neighborhood, when agents tackled a man to the pavement in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Ave after they accused him of assaulting one of them [no one including CST journos witnessed the alleged assault].

Alison McPartlon, director of the University of #NewMexico Taos Kids' Campus #childcare center, said her waiting list is so long some #children do not get in before they start kindergarten. She said the higher reimbursement rates will help her retain & recruit #educators.
"There will be more centers coming up," said McPartlon, describing the shift to #universal child care as "incredible."
To achieve a fully universal system, #NewMexico must create nearly 14k more #childcare slots & recruit 5k #educators, acc/to its #Democratic-run #government. The state is establishing a $12.7 million low-interest loan fund to construct & expand #child #care facilities. It is also increasing reimbursement rates to providers that #pay entry-level staff a minimum of $18 per hour, above the state's $12 hourly minimum wage, & offer full-time care.

It culminates efforts #NewMexico has made to expand access to #free #child #care since the governor & state legislature created the Early Childhood #Education & Care Department in 2019.
