It seems that Italy looked at the unaccountable, secret, privacy violation of the FISA Court in the US and decided, "That's exactly what we need for copyright enforcement! How can we make it worse?" Let's see who blinks first, or whether they find reason

Your notes live in your Google account and are processed to power features like search and handwriting recognition, even though Google says they’re not used for ads.

Privacy-first alternatives like Notesnook, Joplin, and Standard Notes prioritize encryption, local control, and transparency.
Not magic shields — just better defaults for teams and individuals.

The "Quantified Self" movement started as hackers trying to optimize their biology. It ended up as a corporate surveillance grid designed to measure your compliance.

Tomorrow for Big Fan subscribers on Patreon, we are deconstructing the biometric gold rush. We're looking at how raw accelerometer data can fingerprint your central nervous system and why your insurance company is so desperate to give you a free Fitbit.

Brazil’s LGPD isn’t “just another privacy law.”
It’s becoming the privacy anchor for Latin America — influencing contracts, cloud choices, cross-border transfers, and how companies scale across the region.

If your business touches LATAM data, LGPD isn’t optional context. It’s foundational.

Thanks for reminding me about the binary sharing thing thats awesome. I also have to imagine that briar group chats will be quicker and more convenient to organise groups of people than ad hoc communication.

Ideally meshtastic should one day allow global communication; I've heard that a single low power radio node has kilometers of range

In these situations Briar messenger briarproject.org is better because they have mesh networking using bluetooth and or wifi which can allow a crowd to communicate even when theres no internet

Meshtastic does something similar but requires custom lora radio nodes to have already been placed nearby

🧬 Ethical question for the Fediverse: Do you have the right to upload your DNA if it exposes your non-consenting relatives?

In Episode 8, we argue that genetic privacy is collective. Your genome isn't a personal diary; it's a shared password for your entire family tree. By uploading it, you might be doxxing them to insurers and law enforcement.

Where do you draw the line?
