In light of the fact that Ireland is basically a subsidiary to the Silicon Valley Broligarchy™️this is profoundly disturbing.

It is, after all, a move away from, rather than towards, greater privacy & security for the general public & we already know that corporations have a knack for twisting laws directly against their ostensible purpose.

In short, this strenghtens survelliance & weakens resistance at a principle level.

Heya, fedi folks... Just wanted to give you a heads up as I'm making a few changes around here that I'd like you to be aware of. I'll try to keep it short and sweet so I don't cramp your style.

No more public services hosted via my personal domain

I've given it some thought, and due to potential privacy concerns, I will no longer be hosting any services using my personal domain. I own a domain that uses the .us TLD, and I'm quite uncomfortable at this point sending folks on the fediverse that way for anything as I'd like to help protect your privacy as well as improve my own. What this means is I am pretty much letting the domain go dormant until the registration expires at the beginning of next year.

New Matrix and XMPP accounts

Okay, so I had abandoned Matrix to try XMPP, but I'd rather not have to use my personal domain for the reasons mentioned above. After some thought, I figured I'd bring back the Matrix account and set up a new XMPP account somewhere outside of US jurisdiction. I've now got both set up, and hosted via Tchncs.de and you will find links to both tucked away in my profile. Feel free to reach out if you would like to have a chat... I'm also on Signal and Threema as well, but for that info, you will need to send me a direct message to get the details.

Oh look: #discord outsourced their age verification to some vendor. You know, the #ageverification that countries like the UK want to make mandatory for basically every online service. And the vendor had a data breach exposing photos of government IDs for 70,000 people.
