does anyone know which systemd target to choose if you want to run a user-level service after user login regardless if it's a cli or graphical session?

the attached image has the targets "systemd --user list-units --type target" lists and i'm not entirely sure which one it'd be.

output of "systemctl --user list-units --type target." just shows a bunch of different targets you can use to tell the system when to launch a particular service and their descriptions.

Garuda Linux has officially declined to implement age verification, citing local jurisdictional differences and emphasizing user control. 🛡️
In contrast, Arch Linux remains silent on the matter, with forum discussions being deleted to avoid legal risks. 🔒

The warriors are: Garuda Linux, Slackware Linux, GrapheneOS, Devuan Linux, DB48X, Ageless Linux, MidnightBSD, Arch Linux 32, FreeDOS, Void Linux, and Artix Linux.

They are all pointing towards the same decision of "rejecting OS-level age verification."

A Way To Make A PC Startup With The Pokemon PC Noise
isithran on Mastodon came up with a grub boot line that can make your PC's speaker (or whatever substitute it may have) play the classic Pokémon PC startup noise (3 seconds). A demo can be tested here. "PC" obviously stands for "Pokémon Container."

systemd adds an optional “birthDate” field to user records, letting Linux apps access sensitive age data for compliance 📄
Critics warn this creates privacy risks, centralizes sensitive user info, and could be misused if poorly secured, making Linux systems a potential target for data leaks 🔐

When you visit archlinux32.org/ and it gets blocked due to stupid laws. They blocked visitors from Brazil and California.

Soon, pretty much all you will get this message on many such Linux and open source projects.

You get "Access Restricted" message on Arch Linux 32 which read as follows:

Direct access to archlinux32.org has been suspended for your region.

Due to legislative changes - specifically Brazil Law No. 15.211/2025 (ECA Digital) and California AB 1043 - the project cannot provide services in certain jurisdictions. It notes that as a community run Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) project, they lack the legal and financial resources to implement the mandated "auditable age assurance" and "identity verification" mechanisms. To avoid catastrophic fines that could close the project globally, they have implemented a regional block.

What this means for you:

To everyone saying userdb adding a birth date field is a slippery slope towards escalating age verification, please consider that user fields storing real name, work room number, and telephone numbers have been a thing as far back as pre-Linux UNIX. Further, systemd userdb can store user avatars. Is this also a slippery slope towards face recognition and government control?
Although the change is surely motivated by recent laws, it really isn’t that weird on its own, and certainly isn’t where we should be focusing our attention.

Here you can see Ubuntu asking for my REAL NAME and PHONE NUMBER when setting up a new user account (scary!) (for clarity, the "scary" is meant sarcastically)

It's a separate terminal emulator launched via your existing terminal emulator and lets you change color schemes to mimic retro computers (C64, PET, IBM PCs, Apple ][, etc).

Pretty fun program! It's in a lot of distro repos but if not, you can get it here:
