As an added service, we host a bunch of sites for clients. It seems like keeping them hardened from all the bots who want in is getting to be a bit of a job. More than I want to dedicate to a secondary service.

Trying to decide if it's a worthwhile idea to create a blog about self-management (in a professional sense), projects I am working on (programming projects for friends), and things that junior show and think about in their daily work. Oh, and managing teams of .

Wondering if it's a worthwhile pursuit to help spread the word of my skillset to possibly shake the tree for side work.

Things got a little screwy, but I added parsing for the historic notation.

      (#1# A B C D E -) (#2# A B C D E $))

That output e.g. renders sixels in a application pane & also makes it clear why that macro looks how it does.

Mine woukd be Newtonsoft's .net library.

I had just learned C#, and needed a JSON library. I have used many libraries in the past and had moderate expectations of more of the same.

This library taught me what a JSON libraryr needs to look like. It seemed like magic at the time.

        Still does

completely explainable game-embeddable system using .

I coded this one simply and iteratively, since a few people worked on reimplementing my code to-be-simpler.

The gist is that I show that deep learning updates, and indicate training as well are a simple true-positive/true-negative/false-positive-false-negative equation of the previous time step in an eminently explorable way.

I've been realizing something about what works for me across programming, apps, and games.
                        I don't do well with:
                        • spatial navigation
                        • real-time reactions
                        • voice input
                        • memorizing lots of shortcuts
                        • passive learning
                        • audio-heavy systems
Audio is especially hard for me because it's ephemeral. It plays once and is gone. If I miss something, I can’t easily go back and reprocess it. Text works much better because I can reread it at my own pace.
                        What does work:
                        • keyboard-first interaction
                        • explicit state (coordinates, structure)
                        • step-by-step workflows
                        • being able to query instead of remember
                        • text-first systems where information persists
                        A big one: discoverability.
I need to be able to find commands (command palettes, TLDR, AI), not memorize them.
                        Another big one: interactivity.
I learn by doing, with feedback. I need knowledge checks and guided practice. “Go build something” without structure doesn’t work for me.
                        This pattern shows up everywhere:
                        • why I prefer VSCode + CLI over web/mobile apps
                        • why audiogames don't work for me but text-based systems do
                        • why some MUDs work (coordinates, pathing) and others don’t
                        • why I'm focusing on Python and tooling instead of frontend
Realizing this has been really helpful. It's not just preference. It's a consistent interaction model that actually works for me.

Finally pretty happy with my "programming ls" example. This is a good programming with conditions first blush, I think.

Programming with signals and restarts that a run-time handler-bind hooks into gives a program, such as my %%ls here, *forward compatibility* not just *backwards compatibility* - which I explore as a property of ansi common lisp itself.

                                          Thoughts!

                                              Blame this on @dougmerritt , @mousebot

Tootchaining utility that breaks at and trims whitespace:

                                              codeberg.org/martianh/mastodon

                                              which as DM requested is incomprehensible cl-search .. :end2 .. :test-not .. :from-end

The version that does not attempt to play god with whitespace:

                                              codeberg.org/martianh/mastodon

Maybe you could patch it into .

                                                Oh, this is good...

From UNIX World, 1985: "It finds the subtle bugs in my C programs" - Claude B. Finn.

40 years later, people are using Claude to find bugs in programs. What's old is new again.
