soc.octade.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
To what extent can one app spy on another app or capture virtual keyboard inputs on #GrapheneOS?
I'm considering keeping open source apps in one profile and closed source apps in another for security sake. I'm not sure if this is overkill and/or just plain "doing it wrong."
Syncthing-Fork is an open-source Android app for syncing files directly between your devices --no cloud needed.
Built on Syncthing, it uses peer-to-peer connections so your data stays private and fully under your control.
A solid alternative to Google Drive or Dropbox if you care about decentralization and privacy.

Forgive my kvetching, but it drives me nuts that #AOSP-based #Android OSes always treat hyphenated words as words.
For example, if you type in "apple-cart," you get a red squiggly underline and it tries to recommend replacing it with "apricot" or something. The only way around it is to add every. single. hyphenated. word. you. use. into the dictionary. 😮💨
It's been a constant, daily annoyance for the past five and a half years, and the only fix is to install something like GBoard and use its spelling correction engine or whatever you call it, and I'd rather not.
I've experienced it on #CalyxOS and #IodéOS, but I don't recall if #GrapheneOS has the same issue, because I only tried it briefly.
#Samsung's Messages app is shutting down in 2026
https://www.androidcentral.com/phones/samsung-galaxy/samsung-messages-app-has-a-shutdown-date
Android users will soon say goodbye to Samsung's Messages app. Samsung hasn't included it as its default texting app since 2021 in a bid to slowly step away from it and is instead encouraging users to move to Google Messages.
Android is the mobile operating system where stuff can be built. If Google doesn't like your app, fine, users can sideload. And no, that's not going away. You can make your own screen reader, accessibility services, and for AI, Android phones now have up to 24 GB of RAM. I definitely wouldn't be able to use an iPhone as my computer for a week.

@mikebabcock So you're saying 3.9 billion #Android users should not be allowed to install verified/reproducible #FLOSS apps because... ?

Nova Launcher, long trusted by Android users, is raising privacy concerns after its acquisition by Instabridge.
Recent analysis shows added third-party trackers (including Facebook Ads and Google AdMob) and increased data collection activity. Reports suggest the app now communicates with external servers and builds user profiles based on usage.
#FDroid Client 2.0 is on track, already at Basic alpha5, did you test?
Besides a plenthora of cosmetic modernisation, it gets heavy rewrites internally.
One feature for #Android distros developers is the ability to "add a default repository".
Want to know how that works? How that changed? Read @grote 's post here: https://f-droid.org/2026/03/28/how-to-include-repos-in-rom.html
/PS: Make sure to forward this to your favorite secure and private distro developer. 😉
It was a freebie, and it's decently powerful. 🫢
I think after I gave up trying to resist blasted #BindingArbitration agreements, I got kinda lazy.
Also, I have some decent mitigations on my #Android phone against spywareish apps, now. 🤷♂️
