soc.octade.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

Mal abgesehen davon, daß das 2014 gestartete Misskey keine Chance haben wird, das 2010 gestartete Friendica von BBcode zu Misskey-Flavored Markdown zu zwingen. Das 2015 gestartete Hubzilla und seine Nachfahren auch nicht, weil gewisse Spezialtags, vor allem betrachterabhängige (sowas gibt's hier, ja), in MFM nicht existieren.

Das mit dem #^ ist eine Hubzilla-"Spezialität", die auf Hubzilla selbst nicht auftritt, von der also die allermeisten Hubzilla-Nutzer nicht wissen. @Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂, @PepeCyBs Welt: Das kommt von der Bookmarks-App. Die erzeugt diese Zeichen, die man auf Hubzilla nicht sieht, sonst aber überall.

Das mit dem kaputten Hashtag liegt daran, daß Friendica und seine Nachfahren Hubzilla, (streams) und Forte bei Hashtags die Raute nicht mit zum Teil des Link machen.

Auf Twitter/𝕏 ist die Raute bei Hashtags Teil des Link: #Fediverse. Mastodon, Misskey, all ihre Forks und viele anderen Microblogging-Anwendungen haben das so übernommen.

Auf Friendica, Hubzilla, (streams) und Forte ist die Raute bei Hashtag nicht Teil des Link: #Fediverse. Der Grund: Friendica ist kein Twitter-Ersatz, sondern eine Facebook-Alternative. Und Friendica ging schon im Mai 2010 an den Start mit genau diesen Hashtags. Das war, bevor Facebook Hashtags hatte, und das war, bevor es en vogue war, Twitter zu klonen.

Hubzilla ist umgebaut worden aus einem Fork eines Forks von Friendica. (streams) ist ein Fork eines Forks dreier Forks eines Forks (eines Forks?) von Hubzilla. Forte ist ein Fork von (streams). Alles von Friendicas eigenem Erfinder aus der Taufe gehoben. Also haben sie alle Friendicas Verhalten geerbt, auch weil es keinerlei Veranlassung gab, das zu ändern.

Das Problem ist nun: Zum einen rechnet Sharkey nicht mit Hashtags, bei denen die Raute davor statt mit drin steht (das tut Mastodon auch nicht, aber Mastodon kann das einigermaßen abfedern, seit da mal jemand einen Issue eingereicht hat). Zum anderen kann Sharkey augenscheinlich auch nicht damit umgehen, daß irgendwelche Inhalte in irgendwas anderem als Misskey-Flavored Markdown formatiert sind.

Auf Hubzilla sind Posts, Kommentare und DMs intern in BBcode formatiert. PubCrawl, das die optionale ActivityPub-Anbindung zur Verfügung stellt, wandelt den BBcode allerdings in standardkonformes Rich Text Format um, das meines Wissens so auch in der offiziellen ActivityPub-Spezifikation empfohlen wird.

Mastodon nimmt das RTF, wandelt es in HTML um, schickt es durch seinen HTML-Sanitiser, der alles Unliebsame rausschmeißt (vor Mastodon 4.0 hat der Sanitiser noch alles rausgeschmissen und nur noch Reintext übriggelassen), und zeigt das Ergebnis dann zuverlässig an.

Sharkey scheint dagegen nur gebaut zu sein gegen sich selbst (sendet wohl MFM), Misskey (sendet wohl auch MFM), eventuell andere Forkeys (senden wohl auch alle MFM) und Mastodon (kann gar keine Textformatierung erzeugen und sendet daher auch keine). Es scheint nicht damit zu rechnen, daß sich irgendwas an die Spec hält und RTF sendet.

Irgendjemand sollte sich also mal mit Fehlermeldungen an die Misskey- und Sharkey-Entwickler wenden.

    @Preuss of the south Eine grafische Web-Benutzeroberfläche als Ersatz für Pleromas offizielle Benutzeroberfläche Pleroma-FE und für Akkomas offizielle Benutzeroberfläche Akkoma-FE. Wenn es da installiert ist, steht Pleroma-FE bzw. Akkoma-FE nicht mehr zur Verfügung, nur noch Mangane.

    Als Nutzer kann man es aber nicht installieren, sondern nur als Serveradmin und dann wie schon angedeutet nur für alle Nutzer gleichermaßen.

    Es funktioniert auch mit Mastodon.

Mijn eigen ervaring is dat er voor , alles wat niet Arisch is en nuance geen plaats meer is op het voormalige Twitter. Niet alleen ik maar ook vele anderen hebben dit ervaren.           I feel like nobody responds anyway so I have read over my own writing but if you can't see the heart or why to practice it, then it's dry and almost game over as it is almost already...

          It's not just but people who are choosing to be less human too, daily or online!

          A lot of people said they would do things in person but it's also an excuse for some who wouldn't do anything.

          So we need to pump that up as State's are not going to do it for us. We do it.

          All the socials are measurably the same one-way posts, a few short-depth replies, even the same bickering / propaganda / misunderstanding / deflection found elsewhere online.

          Rather than sorting personal politics - people are falling into the external and empty shit rather the stuff they can control (themselves and somewhat their family and personal politics between them).

          Not all the same as Meta here, it's a bit better here but evidently even more *dry* / empty and similar without the slop (as comparison - not saying I like slop but it's empty / unsocial almost without dedicated people helping others do it!).

          I talked to someone making the website for a charity and has good ethics, but asking them actively, they told me they don't want to be a part of any charity work, like nothing - even after saying to them "I'm prodding just to check what you mean" eventually it turns out they prefer machine work almost only with it being a bit better as a boss. This is not enough if humans are the problem / what we need to develop!

                                Хм, интересно, заметил что в activitypub объекте мастодон стал в директиве context и conversation передавать URI вида https://mastodon.social/contexts/110668979721636336-115830934759073190. Причём если по такому урлу сделать запрос, он отдаёт список URI комментов соответствующего треда, что позволит сфедерировать тред более полно.

                                До недавнего времени в этой директиве передавалась какая-то их внутренняя фигня вида tag:mastodon.moscow,2025-12-17:objectId=2215030:objectType=Conversation, бесполезная извне.

                                Кстати, многие другие движки в этой директиве передают URI стартового поста в треде. Интересно, они будут делать по аналогии с Мастодоном или оставят как есть?

                                        Ich sage ja nicht gleich Hubzilla. Aber warum müssen sich noch mehr Leute diese unterausgestattete Software antun und dann glauben, das Fediverse sei nur diese unterausgestattete Software und habe insgesamt nur die Features dieser unterausgestatteten Software?

                                        Das wäre jetzt die Chance gewesen, Leute ins Fediverse zu holen und dann direkt auf etwas, was von vornherein eine vernünftige Ausstattung hat. Ich habe weiß Gott genügend schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht mit Leuten, die monate- oder jahrelang glaubten, das Fediverse sei nur Mastodon, und dann ihren Erstkontakt mit dem Nicht-Mastodon-Fediverse hatten.

                                            Two Fediverse clients I like are Elk and Phanpy, but both had the same issue: the inability to filter "replies" and "boosts" from the timeline. For me this is essential. I can't keep up with my timeline, and if I also see replies to posts unrelated to what I follow, it just becomes chaos. So I tried to implement these filters and opened a PR.

                                            The Elk developers have already merged it into the main branch, so we should soon see the two hide options appear in Elk. Hopefully the same will happen in Phanpy as well, because this greatly improves the experience on two excellent Fediverse tools, which are also compatible with snac.

                                                One would presume that here on / the the atmosphere is much more constructive than on compared to some of the other platforms where free expression has become, how do we say that, somewhat limited.

Robert Reich set up his Mastodon account during the big Mastodon hype of November, 2022, because Mastodon seemed to be the place to be. He only joined to a) keep his Twitter followers who have moved to Mastodon and b) get even more followers.

                                                  He has not logged into Mastodon ever since. He will never see your comments.
