I wonder if people know how to have fun with a computer without social media, let alone without the web in general, let alone without the internet in general. Some of the most fun I've had recently was dinking around with #Plan9 with nothing more than a bunch of manpages and the occasional web lookup via #Mothra (a web browser who's capabilities closely match #Dillo — very web 1.0)

In his latest “Pivot to AI” OpenAI faces cash crunch in 2026 as bills come due, @davidgerard (accurately) says: “#OpenAI works by setting as much money as it can on fire, as fast as possible.”

But I want to know: if we had $200B in, say, $100 notes, and we literally set them on fire:

• would it dispose of the money faster? How long would it take?
• would the impact on the environment be worse or less bad?

I gotta think there is someone on the #fediverse with the wherewithal to figure this out. Surely if we boost this, it will nerdsnipe the right person and we will learn the answer.

I've had a run of trouble with Honest Med, an online service that provides OTC meds and products at cheap prices, with cheap shipping. I only placed one order with them, and ...

... Honest Med keeps screwing it up, and rather than own the mess they created, it looks (from the tone of their emails) like they are considering charging me a second time.

After discussing the situation with two bank reps, it became apparent that canceling my bank card was my only recourse. A new card should arrive by ground shipping by Saturday.

Just a friendly word of warning: Honest Med's customer services offices do not seem to know what their warehouse employees are doing, and vice versa.
