“Privacy. That’s iPhone.” — and Other Things That Need an Asterisk
Apple isn’t lying about privacy. They’re just very careful about what they don’t say out loud. The Google deal. iCloud’s 5GB trap. The Meta silence. What “we keep your data safe” actually means.
None of it required a lie. That’s kind of the whole point.

「 Using developer tools, the lawsuit found that opening prompts are always shared, as are any follow-up questions the search engine asks that a user clicks on. Privacy concerns are seemingly worse for non-subscribed users, the complaint alleged. Their initial prompts are shared with “a URL through which the entire conversation may be accessed by third parties like Meta and Google.” 」

                        #LinkedIn #privacy nightmare

As part of the campaign in removing everyone from the market who might actually make use of the Digital Markets Act, LinkedIn started injecting malicious code into the browsers of their users, without their knowledge or their consent.

At the time of writing, this code downloads a list of 6,222 software products and brute-forces the detection of each one. The scan covers extensions with a combined user base of approximately 405 million people.

Cybrkyd's post looks beyond Apple and asks whether age verification is starting to move into the operating system layer. It points to a merged systemd change and Flatpak discussions as signs that Linux components are beginning to account for age checks, potentially in response to regulatory pressure. The article is framed as analysis and open questions, especially around how age could be verified on self administered systems where the user is also root.
