404 Media: Leaked Email Suggests Ring Plans to Expand ‘Search Party’ Surveillance Beyond Dogs

"Ring’s controversial, AI-powered “Search Party” feature isn’t intended to always be limited only to dogs, the company’s founder, Jamie Siminoff, told Ring employees in an internal email obtained by 404 Media....404 Media also obtained two earlier emails Siminoff sent to all Ring employees, about how Ring could have potentially been used to help find Charlie Kirk’s killer, and about the company’s “Community Requests” feature...."

I've been thinking about this but I cannot reasonably comment on writing tests for concurrent garbage collectors.

Hayley hates me now for some reason, and I would have asked her about it.

otoh, it is reasonable to say that sbcl merged hundreds of lines of non-human LLM slop. So I will stop using sbcl and prefer ecl ( @jackdaniel has a clear stance) and clisp instead.

                                                        Important nuance:

A question few of us saw coming, say, 20 years ago: Is AI conscious? Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was asked this during a recent interview, and his answer may or may not be more insightful than it would have been in 2006. Read more from @Futurism:

For the first time since the dot-com crash, computer science enrollment dropped at University of California campuses last fall. @Techcrunch has more, including where all the CompSci majors are going:

This is perhaps the best illustration I've ever seen that LLM chatbots don't actually understand the input.

Most people think these bots have *some* understanding of meaning, perhaps rudimentary for now, but with potential for improvement.

This shows that there's nothing to "improve". The prompt is so short & specific - it's not complex or subtle & yet despite the confident response, this "intelligence" literally hasn't the vaguest idea what is being asked.
