      Hey everyone,

@aseelfromgz, @casey, and I were able to carry out two verification calls today (out of the four scheduled) and we’d like to welcome two new members to Gaza Verified.

      They are:

      • Tahani and her family (@tahine21)
      • Ahmed Aziz (@ahmedaziz24852)

Please give them a warm welcome to Mastodon and the fediverse, follow their accounts, and, if you can, please help them with their fundraisers and please share this so others might also.

      💕

PS. We’ve rescheduled the two calls we couldn’t hold to tomorrow and we’ve rescheduled all calls tomorrow to start at the earlier time of 1PM Gaza Time instead of 4PM as Internet access appears to be better earlier in the day, especially after the switch to Daylight Savings Time.

Bad Practices (Not replying to people) ... Better Practices (Trust IS possible) ... [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

        TLDR - Inaction = Fascism

(soft or stronger type of fascism, all considered the same from )

Might get than a 1-liner here but if you reply we can ALWAYS work this out.

Towards better practices... Constructive Critique below...

is generally diverse but has same traits as Twitter etc people online ... We are evolving but never taught HOW to trust and increase trust online... All you ever heard is do less of this, watch out for that...

Increasing trust (to avoid fascism / have stronger people is part of the 'product' of doing what I suggest should be normal / normalised - otherwise we fall fast into fascism or silent forms of the same).

There need for "fixing" / accepting change of our habits... is not easy but it's measurable... and does have steps to improve...

Improving communication else we die basically (!) alone or fall into more / / fascism / anything almost.

Fascism can be the more-comfortable version AS WE HAVE IT NOW... SORRY!

Our bad habits = not talking / helping others is exactly what you are getting ! (not blaming you but you can help)

        TLDR = Inaction = Fascism

Constructively "we" all are always are the MAIN problem (not just Trump Musk etc people pour time into... it's about the time the common folk people don't invest into themselves!... ⌚

Talking to each other properly / deeply).... gets us there way faster!

And that hurts to say and to accept perhaps as you or me (measurably) by what we are not doing also... so it needs two to tango and even 1 person to continually show up, for messaging properly to continue and have a place they can always go to (Fediverse let's say), In person can have it's place but it's not always suited for bashing our internal into something more cultivated when we do go out and not yelling at others (even the bad who still do near-0 and continue the bad).

So in taking more responsibility, for people messaging us, for our own etc - IT IS OUR INACTION in what we do bad - NOT JUST THE ACTIONS we do generally only for our direct )

THE INACTION IS ALSO EVIDENT / THE EVIDENCE, much like how our leaders don't ask testing questions. Not much different. We need to learn to use our own power and not "hope" in leaders always (we give power away a lot by doing that too). It's just us or just !

TLDR - WATCH OUT FOR THOSE THAT DON'T REPLY -
They can be wasting your time if people-progress interests you (better people as the resultant output at the end) not just improving tech or sciences or more memes - actually developing better people.

Those that don't want to look at themselves or talk outside the box are limited.,.

IS PART OF THE SAME PROBLEM AS A POPULATION (NOT magically different people)

People here are NOT AS USEFUL AS THEY MAKE OUT or INTEND !!
They might not see how they are in victim-mode constantly pointing at the others and throwing stones and need to divert some energy into people not on TV etc. People nearer to being able to change (not professional / )

(Not all but some are really 3hiding from the conversations / just pumping their wares a bit selfishly). Need to listen to almost anyone really trying (check their account too and ask them) else it's rather much circular (doesn't spiral out and reach others).

When they are not responding (but continue to chat to to others online veraciously) that is SAYING SOMETHING too - despite people kindly asking, Even a polite no is better but NOTHING.

It's not just - it's the general populations of people in cities that have this "ignore them" switch whenever they encounter a feeling a subject they are not sure about. Not to discuss it AT ALL or risk it with 1 person continents away!

People who seem wonderful as text and media- but don't have a way to talk.

Check my account - I've messaged / tested 100's (10's daily) and the best here... THANK YOU TO MANY (I CAN GIVE YOU A LIST)

BUT often it's a fail after first reply - you'd really be surprised... it's almost like your hero on TV and they turn out to be opposite.

No longer so many hero-people (aesthetically yes) and though it's natural and even very human to "meet the band" and be disappointed - it's I think also very deliberate to say the talk but not walk the walk (like trusting people more and slowly talking about everything to .heal it all). Just to start (no need go all-in).

Despite their skill level... it's almost proportional that more skill / higher techies and some educated seem to be inversely self-blocked or unkilled in socially raising the internet kids... because clever-but-unskilled-socially is worse than messaging people with less of qualified skill.

If they don't reply and don't say why - DON'T RELY ON THEM...

even though it's their right - be a bit wary when they claim to stand for stuff (don't write them off 100% but consider them a 75% potential waste of time). Without communication or trying you are of little use to others (that's a rule for life - though I don't mean people = 0). Just online memes IS NOT ALL OF IT ONLINE. Had to convert to positives and communicate.

Some part of the problem is similar to the other sides (like Fasism) where they are Silent / One-way messaging / Ignorant in smoe other way / not willing to answer / change - IT IS DELIBERATE.

A quick bad example are those in church that claim peace but can't sit down and have a debate (ok outside the church is the right place BUT asking them to sit down after is still hard for them).
THERE IS NO PEACE WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT HARD THINGS

AND YOU START TO FEED FASCISTS (OR BE ONE) EVEN IF IT'S A SOFT-TYPE / INDIRECT FORM OF FASCISM.

It's clever but not clever (because it's not genuine and even hiding things - (again quick-bad example - church and it's people hiding banks war on people / keeping people down / giving them debt they don't need but billionaires that are causing problems and harvest people by 'giving' them money).

Be a little wary (it's not 100% but they are bad practising people (not brave enough / etc) but if they don't say why THAT IS BAD while - because you see them messaging fast other people - but not you...or after the first posts they cut off suddenly... BAD PRACTICE and even creates problems as we learn how to do this social - it's not easy but answer everyone (especially when you can see you don't have that much going on or need to make the process better else hop one legged).

So one thing I notice about Internet culture: even back on Twitter, and now here in the , blind people tend towards having discussions in giant threads, sometimes with as many as 10-12 people in them, that can often stretch on for days. I rarely (if ever) see sighted culture do this. I wonder why? It's not a criticism, it's just interesting to me. Maybe because Discord and other chat apps were historically less , so blind culture tends to use the fediverse more as a discussion platform? Or maybe it's something UI related that makes it easier for blind folks to track giant threads of doom? The few times I've been involved in this style of discussion with sighted folks, they've become confused and begged for everyone to move to Discord or Slack or somewhere. On the other hand, I rarely see blind people do a single, lengthy post broken up and threaded the way sighted people do, with (1/N) at the end. We tend to just move to instances with longer character limits, or put our long form thoughts on a webpage or something.

Edit to add: I'm pleased to say that this post has now become a perfect example of the thing I was talking about; my last post in the thread included the phrase "transsexual furry puppygirls". It makes me happy that people unfamiliar with what I'm talking about need do nothing more than look at the thread on this post.

We also recognize that there are legitimate campaigns. One relatively new effort is the Gaza Verified project. I (Quintessence) spoke to Aral to ask questions and generally understand the process, and am comfortable confirming that 1 ) Aral is a real person who is doing the work he states and 2 ) that the people that are being listed on Gaza Verified are confirmed with in-person verification with the network that he and Joy are building. To be overclear: the work is being done, and being done the way it is being communicated.

In-person verification is slow work, as it requires each new contact to be verified by an existing contact. They also take the time to attempt to onboard people who mostly are unfamiliar with the technology we take for granted, and therefore both do not have prior exposure to cultural norms and also due to suffering, do not have a lot of mental bandwidth to ‘just learn it’.”

A vibrant pink lily fills the frame, showcasing its intricate petals and prominent red stamens. The flower's detailed close-up reveals delicate textures.

This image is a close-up macro photograph of a Stargazer Lily flower. The vibrant pink petals are delicately speckled with a few darker pink spots, and the focus is on the flower's reproductive structures - the stamens with bold orange-red anthers covered in pollen and the central pistil with its bulbous stigma. The fine detail and texture of the petals and structures are beautifully captured, highlighting the intricate beauty of this striking bloom.

Hi. It's me again. It's another #MutualAidRequest for groceries, gas and apartment applications. ($50/$200) [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

                                        Hello Everyone,

I'm sorry, but it's already time for another . We've been safely housed this week thanks to the incredible generosity of our friends here on the . What little wages I was able to earn from my shifts earlier this week went to the monthly storage unit bill to avoid a hefty late fee.

Consequently, we've exhausted our grocery supplies and my "E" (low fuel) light is on in my car.

While we're somewhat content where we're currently staying, it is a 40-mile round-trip commute and we were a little dismayed to learn that this motel's policy is no more than 30 days in any given room before we have to change so that it can be "deep cleaned".

I don't feel the policy is unreasonable given the demographics for a low-budget motel, but the thought of having to switch rooms every few weeks is exhausting to even consider. Dragging our microwave and mini-fridge (which I don't know with complete certainty whether we're technically *allowed* to have said items) and our stuff over and over is not the most appealing.

If we don't stay here, our only other options (besides living in our car) are an extended-stay type hotel that in multiple google maps reviews was referred to as a "trap house", or an apartment complex which I'm afraid could potentially be referred to as the same.

We were disappointed last month when we tried and spectacularly failed to secure an apartment at a complex we'd fell in love with, and have been sort of floundering on that front since.

But I think we've both had our fill of motel/hotel life, and it's time to settle down again. We don't want to rent a room in anyone's home, at least not for a very long time, after our past couple of experiences with that.

So, I'm leaning towards the semi-sketchy apartment complex, if they even have any rooms available now. I can't say I'm very optimistic about living there being a pleasant experience, but we're worn out. We're tired of nearly all our belongings being locked away in a storage unit halfway across the valley.

Like everywhere else, there's an application fee for both of us. We may have to be creative at addressing the rental history problem. Both our credit scores are atrocious but my gut instinct is that this complex won't be as concerned about that.

It might save us a tiny bit of money monthly, but the downside is we can't just pay the rent daily or weekly. We'll likely have to fundraise an entire month's rent before we can get moved in, plus any deposits (the specifics of which I can't recall at this moment).

And, with hours at work being the way they have been and seem likely to continue for the immediate future, I don't know how easy it's going to be to keep ahead of that monthly rent bill.

I don't know whether we'll actually be able to pull this off. I don't know if we're "jumping out the frying pan and into the fire". But I do know we're pretty burned out and I'm not sure what else to do.

In summary: we need funds for food, gas, application fees to what will likely be a dirty, musty "ghetto" apartment, so that at least we can resume having a semi-permanent address.

As always, thank you all in advance for your help and support.

If you're willing AND able, please boost and if possible donate. If you can't donate, *do NOT feel guilty* for being in the same boat as us. Your feelings about it are valid but rest assured you needn't feel bad.

Dieser Irrglaube ist, dass das erst mit entstanden ist. Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thank you again for your amazing support for our fundraiser to fund @joynewacc’s private scholarship at the University of Milan and get her evacuated from Gaza in November.

Thanks to you, we were able to raise over $15,000 in under 24 hours and meet our goal.

Joy can’t thank you herself at the moment as her family has moved to a different shelter and she is currently without Internet. We have already sent her an eSIM and hope she will be online again as soon as possible.

We’re keeping the campaign open until end of day today so if you haven’t had a chance to donate and want to, please do. The additional money we raise will go to covering any unexpected travel, lodging, or other expenses that might arise during her evacuation.

Thank you all again… you have been (and are) wonderful.

                                                          Hello everyone,

@aseelfromgz and I had the pleasure of talking to four new friends from Palestine (and we were lucky enough to have @casey join us for two of the calls) and we’d like to welcome them to the Gaza Verified family.

                                                          They are:

                                                          • Mai, who runs a camp taking care of 30 kids (@rouh)
                                                          • Saher (@SaherGaza1)
                                                          • Alaa, who is a 4th-year medical student helping the wounded in Gaza) (@alaa123)
                                                          • Sara, and her lovely little tots, Osama and Yusuf who we got to meet (@sarada9669)

Please give them a warm welcome to Mastodon and the fediverse, follow their accounts, and, if you can, please help them with their fundraisers and please share this so others might also.

Also, Sara needs someone to help her set up a Chuffed campaign. If anyone is willing, please contact me.
