Too far for me, but these look like some neat raw material for building a shelf out of (although I guess you don't see the cool engravings). Maybe dis-assemble and reassemble into a shelf with the cool printing visible.

Hmm, all grain brewing of 5 gallons is more equipment I don't have. (namely... a large mash tun and a larger pot to boil the wort)
Also, discovered the kit I bought is missing an ingredient (listed on recipe, but did not ship). Duly emailed the company I ordered it from earlier this year. (Dry Irish stout uses both flaked oats and roasted oats).
Unlikely I will fix either of those problems by Thursday, so... one gallon IPA it is.
Hmm, okay, will make New England IPA as a warmup to a whole grain stout. (Free kit! Free beer! Free learning something new!). Let's see if homebrewing beer attempt #3 works. (#1 was great, #2 was a stinky failure). Then will advance to #4, which is an increased level of technique.
(Now, I just need people to consume my beer, LOL... I can't drink that much beer, really.)

Finally broke down and bought another rain jacket/wind breaker (up from the one), as it's inconvenient to have the same sweaty rain jacket from bicycling AND using it elsewhere in decent company, LOL. (splurged, and purchased one online at Goodwill.. $18 with shipping and tax). Apparently no one in this area ever wears nor donates decent rain jackets, I have been looking at those racks for months. This one from San Francisco looks brand new, except whoever owned it last either leaned against paint or got nailed by a seagull, LOL (easily remedied).

Random food experiment result. A family member made apple juice (the hard way, shredded apples and squeezed them through cheese cloth). I decided to try to dehydrate the remaining apple. Which worked, now have dried shredded apple. But, most of the sugar was in the juice, lol. So the question is what you could make with two jars of this. #random #food #dehydratorn
Me: Folding laundry
MDMRN Twin 2: There's a big hole in your underwear
Me: That's supposed to be there. That's the fly. That's for me peeing.
MT2: Ugh
Me: What? That's what it's for
MT2: No! Don't talk about that, I'm dying of cringeness.
MT2 falls on the floor out of cringe.

Introduced myself to a stranger today and said "hi, I'm Ben" and he immediately said my last name, LOL.
(Yes, yes, small world... Hi all!)

Hmm, is it cheating to order coffee and donuts for a class for delivery, instead of pedaling two different directions and having to pedal up a big hill (instead of driving) 🤔 I think, yes. So, add an hour to my usual schedule for running to both a coffee and a donut shop, THEN, connect the cargo trailer with all the class materials. #random #BikeTooter
Cheap used bike decision chain:
1. Huffy or other "bike shaped object": DO NOT BUY
2. Does the seat post move? No? DO NOT BUY
3. Spray painted over components? Only buy if you expect to replace them all, indicates poor care (or stolen) generally DO NOT BUY
4. Missing major components (brakes, shifters): DO NOT BUY
5. Major, major frame rust: only buy if you are looking for a project, can be fixed.
6. Rusty chain: -$15.00 off price. Needs a new one. Indicator of rest of bike care/wear.
7. Heavily rusted rear sprocket, wear: -$15.00 off price
8. Lightly rusted rear sprocket: easy to clean, don't worry about it.
Always assume new tires and tubes, maybe tire liners (approx $100, plus or minus, depending on what tires you replace them with)
(Personal) wilderness preparedness lessons for today:
1. Probably should have taken a radio programmed with more repeaters for the area we were going; the high level repeaters we could normally hit were not accessible from our location when we had an emergent situation (not an emergency, but a family stranded in bad circumstances).
2. Brought what used to be enough layers for backpacking to 25 degrees... should have brought more, under-dressed for the wind conditions and for the (unanticipated) time without a vehicle for shelter (when the vehicle we came in had to transport a family down the mountain, and didn't come back for a couple of hours). Also, I think my metabolism is slower than a few years ago.
3. Should have brought the gloves and the fleece hat I threw out of the backpack for space reasons, anyway.
4. Pack the long underwear/baselayers anyway for elevation. I was fine, but ended up breaking open one of the emergency blankets to line the inside of my jackets.
5. Bring more snacks. Was fine, but used almost my entire stash. (would have been okay for overnight, but only for myself, not unanticipated company). Particularly since our transportation as via vehicle; had my normal (personal) snack allotment for hiking.

Realize my current playlist has gone hard funk. (with a few arbitrary random things in there I had copied onto the hard drive lately). I did not listen ANY of this stuff when I was a kid or growing up. In fact, none of it made the radio stations in the community I grew up in--and may not still. 🤔
