      What an amazing view of Earth from Artemis II.

      The Sun is behind the Earth, illuminating a thin crescent. This low-light shot, taken by Reid Wiseman using a Nikon D5, shows auroras over the poles, city lights, and the glow of the atmosphere.

The Green Knob Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway takes its name from the mountain whose rocky face is located across the parkway. One can enjoy spectacular views into the valleys created by the headwaters of the Catawba River. Views to the southwest offer waves of ridges and valleys that continue into the distance. This view might look familiar as it appears in the opening scenes of mist shrouded mountain valleys in the movie, Last of the Mohicans. This spectacular view was taken on a splendid autumn late afternoon in 2019

                                          Bumblebee queens prefer to hibernate in north facing slopes sheltered from the sun as these areas are later to heat up in the springtime and so help prevent the queens from emerging too early.
