soc.octade.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.

This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.

My dream gave me a new idea for a chess variant. I haven't tried it yet, but I want to know what people think.

The game starts with just two kings on the table. The other 15 pieces are held by their player.

On the player's turn, instead of moving a piece, a player may place a piece.

  • The player may place a piece in the first two rows at any time.
  • In response to a check, the player may place a piece anywhere to block the check.

What do people think of this variant?

                Added a pass where the station components pull together to make it air tight.

                I make it look easy but that was a brutal programming challenge tbh. Had a real rough time. Lots of maths and wrestling with the code. Glad to be done with it but can't argue with the result!
