Firing up the filament dryer so that I can print again

A really exciting milestone happened today, a ton of my local hacker friends got together and signed a lease for a new hacker space!

It's not open yet but be sure to follow us here on mastodon for updates -> @dma

My weird spade-shaped hinge/knee joint kind of works now. Problem is, there's still too much resistance/chance of jamming - I can feel it "catching" as I actuate it. Not an issue for my fingers, but unacceptable in final application.

I mentioned recently a project I've had in the works for some time that I'd like to share. The published files aren't quite as polished or easy to pick up as I'd like them to end up, but this is a process and I'm happy to have others in on it for everything that comes next.

So, I'd like to introduce y'all to a robotic friend.

A photo of a delta kinematics 3D printer built of black 2040 aluminum extrusions and printed parts in a deep purple, with a turquoise colored bed surface brightly lit. The head is held by three pairs of narrow black arms and has hoses and a large black shaft running up from it vertically to a motor on a platform held above the main frame on dark rods.

In nine hours, I'll be at . The last 3D printing show I went to was MRRF 2018*. So I'll wear my MRRF 2018 T-shirt today.

I sincerely hope I don't buy a new printer this weekend.

I've got more design work to do but I am making good progress on the handheld two button controller.

If the power supply was failing which would be reduced, voltage or amperage? 🤔
Can't measure >10A with my multimeter, but the 12.08V output of the power supply are absolutely stable when the temperature begins to drop uncontrollably. Meanwhile the MCU reports it tries to give full power to keep temperature.

In my very limited understanding of electronics this indicates that my power supply degraded and doesn't provide all of its 350W anymore?

Mobile view of a 3D printer web interface. It shows the temperature of the printer as well as its controlling mini-computer. The temperature of the extruder is at 230.6°C after slightly cooling down as part of the print job, despite it supposed to stop and stay at 235°C. Also the bed dropped from 90°C to 88.9°C.
