He still intended to eat him, but for the moment the bear decided he would comfort the lost boy in the forest.

A child leans against a large bear on a rock, both looking sad but comforted as they sit together in a grassy meadow with trees in the background.

It's HURRICANE SEASON! And we finally got all of our new windows and doors installed. It's been an ordeal for sure. Loud, dirty and we had to do all of the finish work ourselves because they were awful. But I am getting back to creating!

These beauties are going to the Lakewood Ranch Library exhibition in the Spring. :)

Sunny Beauty is a watercolour painting in portrait format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. Two beautiful sunflowers in bright yellow and orange with green leaves bloom against an abstract background in different shades of blue. The watercolour is painted on handmade paper. The irregular structure of this paper gives the painting a unique expression.

                  Poppy seed pods

A close-up of several poppy seed pods standing upright against a vibrant, blurred green background.

The pods feature a textured, bulbous, or teardrop-like shape with a matte, bluish-green hue. Each pod is topped with a characteristic, crown-like stigmatic disc.

The stems rise vertically, positioning the pods at varying heights, which gives the composition a natural, architectural feel. On the left side, two pods overlap vertically, while the others stand independently.

We call them "invasive." Nature calls them survivors. Before we wage war on a plant, let's ask what pain the land is trying to reveal. A wounded Earth sends messengers, not monsters. Heal the soil, restore biodiversity, and life will find its balance again. Don't fight nature—listen to it. 🌍💚

                      Good morning. 🌸🌸🌸

                      11 July 2026

I use my phone mostly as a pocket‑sized computer rather than a telephone, though I do occasionally make or answer a call. If I want to look something up—anytime, anywhere—I reach for my back pocket, pull out my iPhone, and the world opens. It’s amazing, really, and I know I’m not the only one who does this. But if I set my phone down while moving around and suddenly think of something I want to research, which happens often, I find myself scrambling. Where did I leave it? That moment of panic is unsettling. It’s strange to feel so tethered to an object. In a way, it’s like carrying around a genie everywhere I go—one that can answer any question or fetch almost anything with a tap. Aladdin’s lamp has nothing on this little slab of metal and glass; I get far more than three wishes.

It makes me wonder how I managed daily life for so long without a cell phone. Maybe it’s similar to what my grandparents must have felt when they looked back and asked how people lived without running water or electricity. Was there really life before the automobile? I suspect most of us today wouldn’t last long in that world.

Imagine the chaos if all the cell towers suddenly went dark. It’s not impossible. Then what? Payphones have vanished, and most homes have abandoned landlines. And that’s just the communication piece. If electricity and fuel stopped flowing, survival itself would be at stake.

It’s almost comical that misplacing my iPhone can spark visions of a dystopian future—but here we are.

“Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.” — Christian Lous Lange

“We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.” — Carl Sagan

“Big Brother is watching you.” - George Orwell, 1984

"A dense cluster of crepe myrtle blossoms fills the frame, glowing in vivid shades of pink that seem almost electric. Each flower is made of delicate, crinkled petals—like soft tissue paper gently ruffled by a breeze—surrounding bright yellow centers that pop against the saturated color. Some buds remain tightly closed, smooth and round, hinting at blooms still to come. The flowers cling to a slender branch with smooth bark, while glossy green leaves frame the cluster. The background melts into a soft blur, making the blossoms feel close, almost touchable, as if you could lean in and breathe their warm summer scent.

The overall impression is one of lushness, texture, and color—summer captured at its most exuberant." - Microsoft Copilot
