One particularly bizarre facet of business's current fixation with is how it ignores everything they know about pricing.

Almost any human, and some gifted species of trout, can see it's in "loss leader" mode. Fine, exploit the below-cost pricing now, but don't hollow out your organization and become dependent until you've seen the final price card.

It smacks of watching a co-worker roll up in a new $1200 per month car, despite his $30k salary, because "hey, no payments til September!"

Back in December of 2025, two days before Christmas, I was on vacation and doing some tech stuff that I had on my todo list. One of them was to start backing up my GoG game purchases (and also have a bigger drive to backup my OneDrive stuff, my music and my pictures.

I stopped by Best Buy and bought this external Seagate 24TB drive for $279.99 and thought to myself at the register while paying for it, "Damn, this is expensive."

I just looked and the same drive at Best Buy is now $709.99 (and that's the sale price after a $50 discount!). The sale price is a whopping 153.6% increase in just six months!

This is insane. Thanks techbros for making everything tech more expensive.

“META LEFT POTENTIALLY sensitive information collected from employee laptops accessible to anyone inside the company, according to an internal security notice seen by WIRED and three current employees familiar with the issue.

The data, which was collected as part of a divisive initiative to train artificial intelligence models, is believed to include keystrokes, mouseclicks, and content displayed on the computer screens of Meta’s US employees.

Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton initially confirmed to WIRED that the company is investigating the security issue. As this story was being published, he added that Meta is pausing the data collection program indefinitely. "We have carefully designed this program with privacy safeguards and while we have no indication at this time that any data was improperly accessed by Meta employees, we're pausing it while we investigate," Clayton says.

The security notice sent out Monday indicated that “employee data across 45,000 hive tables,” had been exposed. Those tables included employee activity such as “full prompts and transcriptions, private conversations, people and performance data,” according to documents viewed by WIRED.“

Ran across several AI companies that offer services for customers to build their own Enterprise AI platforms.

The issue is that these services are exposing backend Mongodb databases with customer information.

I am not going to name and shame (India), but I cant help but get the feeling that these AI companies were created using AI and does not employ experienced DevSecOps / Engineering staff.
