Nott reads Job 29 against the poverty of his city. Job didnβt merely give aid; he rescued and delighted the suffering, made the widowβs heart sing. Nott applies this to scenes that would chill oneβs blood: snow through roof holes, families without fuel. His response is prayer for relief, not theological satisfaction in the spectacle. Some contemporary commentary manages the opposite.
