politics [SENSITIVE CONTENT]so i've been hearing a lot of adverts lately regarding representatives or whatnot in my state where people are basically shouing "i beat trump a million times in court, make me governor!"
sorry, how about no.
if i win a lawsuit, does that men i should be governor? no. i'm looking for governors who are going to bennifit us as the people in general, not people who just throw suit after suit. in fact, that mAkes you more unqualified for governor. who's to say you're going to waist the tax dollars you and i pay on lawsuits? sorry, but you aren't getting my voat anytime soon.

Deep into the second series of the fabulous HBO Max medical drama, The Pitt, this line popped out from a character & I wanted to share it for its wisdom & poignancy:

'While every old person knows what it is like to be young, no young person can know what it is like to be old...'

That is not only a truism, but its a really instructive way of understanding the trouble that society often has with ensuring our older members have the best life they can....

Trump is adding his obnoxious image to US passports. So it is absolutely the duty of every other country to make some sort of passport stamp that makes him look like a clown or more of an idiot or something. I'm sure Denmark is probably up to this task, but it'd be great if loads of countries did this. Someone spread this idea to those consulants that can make this happen.

Mariana Mazzucato's judgement on the Labour Govt. she once advised is withering:

'Fine, come in, say the Tories were shit, but once you’ve said it, move on!... You’ve got five years, so what’s your plan? What’s the positive narrative? It was always half baked … [now] it’s half assed'.

I've alway thought Mazzucato had the right ideas & approach, and was glad when Keir Starmer seemed to agree... but actions are more important than words...

Any Europeans that were in any doubt that the Tangerine Tyrant cannot be trusted in any deal-making, should now be clear.

He has said he will place 100% tariffs on imports from any country that (perfectly legally) imposes a digital services tax on any US corporations, explicitly *overriding* any existing trade deals.

Of course, the cost of this will be paid by US consumers, but will also dampen exports to the US from Europe.

Another reason to pivot away from the US market!

That should tell you the nature of the bais we see from the New York Times.

The fact that Mamdani got elected shows just how badly detached from the realities of the average New Yorker that the New York Times reporting really is.

And by the way, that first article title should read: “Israel violates Trump ceasefire, Iran moves to close Hormuz.” That would be a far less biased way of reporting the facts of the situation.
