After digging around in the sysfs, I found /sys/class/typec/orientation

That is, the Linux sysfs knows whether your dock or external monitor's cable is plugged in "normal" or "reverse".

I also found a nice utility for rotating the display on Wayland: github.com/artizirk/wdisplays

These ingredients could produce a marvelous practical joke.

hey so. looking for a job (NZ or fully remote willing to hire a kiwi) in SRE, security, or linux/Unix system administration. 15 years experience administering Linux and Unix boxes, intermediate level of experience working with docker compose and containerisation and container security. No prior job experience unfortunately, all those 15 years were mostly personal projects and small-scale stuff for friends. I'm also 26, so I started when I was 11, explaining the no jobs so far. Currently running an entire multi-machine personal cloud infrastructure with a demonstration of all the services I have running at status.highenergymagic.net. Three machines, 72 docker containers. One running most of them, one running Mastodon+glitchsocial, one running the uptime monitor. encrypted root on ZFS, alpine linux, gVisor on supported containers, plan to move to Kata. Entirely willing to accept entry-level job placements, no expectation of being paid a lot or anything, just want to be doing something and move the needle a little on my current "being broke" status. Currently using gVisor, docker compose, and kata containers in production, experience with Linux, docker, Net/Open/FreeBSD, Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, Mikrotik and UniFi, configuring and administering Asterisk, plus extensive experience with IBM AIX and Sun Solaris.

Please boost for reach, any job offers please DM me.

The periodic between 1960s and 1990s was the Cambrian Explosion of architecture and .

A single manufacturer, DEC, alone, had RSTS, TOPS-10, TOPS-20, RSX-11, VMS, Ultrix, OSF/1, and several other OSs I no longer recall. And DEC had a slew of different CPU architectures, and they each ran many other OSs made by various software companies. Also, there were loads of other hardware makers, large and small, each with a flock of different CPUs and a gaggle of different OSs.

In those days, we bitterly protested against this excess of “diversity”, on the grounds of software incompatibility, development impedance, and investment cost.

Finally, we now have that much-vaunted “uniformity” we always desired: Slackware Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora Linux, SUSE Linux, Gentoo Linux, Ubuntu Linux, Arch Linux, NixOS Linux, SELinux, …, @$&*, and they all run on the .

tip: There is a way to use only part of a word as a hashtag!

For example, you might want to say the word “toots”, but use the hashtag “toot”.

To do this, place a U+2060 WORD JOINER before the “s” in “toots”. Example: s.

If you're using or (i.e. or desktop), you can add the following line to ~/.XCompose to give yourself a keyboard shortcut:

                        <Multi_key> <w> <j> : "" U2060 # WORD JOINER

Then just type Compose, then W, then J.
