"Madison Square Garden compiled a list of activists who have publicly criticized the venue’s use of facial recognition technology, putting their tweets and comments into a document that was then accessible to other people inside the company, 404 Media has found.

The news shows that MSG, operated by Jim Dolan who has garnered a reputation for being pernicious against his perceived enemies, is not only deploying controversial facial recognition technology but keeping track of specific people who take issue with it. The document was included in a 45GB cache of data hackers stole from MSG and posted online this month, which 404 Media then downloaded and reviewed.

“The wake of a data breach would be a good time for Madison Square Garden to stop subjecting its patrons to biometric surveillance,” Adam Schwartz, privacy litigation director at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), and one of the people included in the document, told 404 Media."

“META LEFT POTENTIALLY sensitive information collected from employee laptops accessible to anyone inside the company, according to an internal security notice seen by WIRED and three current employees familiar with the issue.

The data, which was collected as part of a divisive initiative to train artificial intelligence models, is believed to include keystrokes, mouseclicks, and content displayed on the computer screens of Meta’s US employees.

Meta spokesperson Tracy Clayton initially confirmed to WIRED that the company is investigating the security issue. As this story was being published, he added that Meta is pausing the data collection program indefinitely. "We have carefully designed this program with privacy safeguards and while we have no indication at this time that any data was improperly accessed by Meta employees, we're pausing it while we investigate," Clayton says.

On the other hand, the android app really feels archaic and unpolished. Animations doesn't work well. Lot of bugs. Emails doesn't load properly as and when I receive them.

I now (finally) got back a response from Kiwibank on my formal complaint to them, for sending extensive information on mortgages and mortgage applications to clients (us) by plain text email (with PDF attachments).

In a way I *knew* it would come out this way. A lot of weasle words making statements that they're compliant with the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 (LOL, > 20 years old), having extensive 'controls in place' and using 'transit protection'. As if they could control what happens on a service provider's side with (A) the content of the emails, and (B) them actually *also* transmitting them on with transit encryption.

Even if it is compliant, it just should not be *acceptable* by the point of view on how to conduct business.

How naive do they think people are who are *explicitly* asking about these issues?

This is some serious #SecurityTheatre they're pulling off.

Now I need to come off of my rage, or my freediving training will not be effective tonight ...

"Come in questo caso, l'illecita raccolta di fotogrammi dai video di sicurezza, l'illecito c'è a prescindere.

Detto questo, facciamo un altro passo: non è che siccome c'è la videosorveglianza il primo pirla che passa se la guarda e raccoglie le figurine. Esiste un elenco di persone, ed è molto ristretto, che hanno la possibilità, in casi molto particolari, di accedere ai video di sorveglianza.

E nei posti governati da gente con un cervello, la procedura richiede sempre almeno due persone: tipicamente, un tecnico e un manager, per riesaminare i video. Quindi OK i tramvieri laidi, ma chi gli ha dato accesso ai video ha fatto ancora di peggio, perché gli incaricati della gestione dei video di sicurezza hanno gli stessi obblighi di riservatezza e confidenzialità degli amministratori di sistema, e infatti sono spesso le stesse persone.

Io direi che, oltre ai laidi, deve saltare pure la testa di qualcuno nell'area tecnica e qualche manager.

Certo, in Italia perfino gli amministratori di sistema delle banche si mettono a ficcare il naso nei conti correnti della gente, figuriamoci in un'azienda di trasporti pubblici.

Ma non è un problema. Le leggi esistono, si prende questa gente, si predono i loro superiori che hanno l'obbligo di sorveglianza, si prende la gente che ha fatto gli audit e garantito la compliance, si prendono quelli che hanno approvato un sistema di videosorveglianza dove gli accessi ai video non vengono loggati, o se vengono loggati non vengono auditati e li si accompagna tutti, gentilmente, alla porta.
