Honestly, what kind of scam / is? They give you a form to report malicious activity from their network, you file it, you get "Error message to be decided", and it turns out they've banned you in the meantime; all their websites give you "Access denied".

And they host an exploit since 2021 at least: web.archive.org/web/2021122513

Dependency cooldowns are a nice idea, but I dare say they're a short-term solution.

They resemble the idea of avoiding poison by waiting for someone else to start eating first. That works, provided that someone actually eats first, and that the poison works fast. But eventually it leads to that awkward silence at the table when nobody wants to risk the first bite.

Adapting dependency cooldowns means basically waiting for "someone else" to notice the problem. At some point when large enough number of projects adapts them, we're going back to square one — except with an artificial few-day delay.

Ok, to start, let me define "" in . Steganography in computer security is the practice of hiding information within another file, message, image, or video, making the concealed information undetectable to an unsuspecting observer.

It is not necessarily malicious, but it certainly can be. I tell you that story to tell you this one:

                Code Is Steganographically Marking Requests

CC silently alters the system prompt using invisible-ish Unicode markers. It encodes proxy / gateway classification into a sentence that looks like plain English. It hides the domain list behind XOR and base64.

Is it malicious? Probably not. Is a pretty big marker on the "Why not to trust AI companies" list of reasons? Yeah, yeah it is.

After 8.5 awesome years, today is my last day at 1Password.

I can't even begin to describe how much the experience impacted me as a person. I moved from casual customer support and social media management all the way through to the security team, eventually becoming its longest-tenured member. Some of my greatest hits included:

                  • Pioneering the creation of 1Password's Privacy Team as its first IC
                  • Creating a fully functional DSR program from the ground up
                  • Forming the first internal data map
                  • Developing a process with which to work law enforcement
                  • Becoming a SME on all things consumer product security
                  • Collaboration with Legal, GRC, Customer Support, and plenty of others

My entire future has been shaped by what I accomplished while I was there, and I'll remember it forever. What's next? I'm not sure yet! I think I'll take a bit of time for myself and then start looking for my next big thing. I'm open to suggestions, though, and so if you or someone you know is looking for someone in privacy, shoot me a message!

As you said, computers just work around these blockades. Passing the gate does not prove a man's hand clicked on the box.

A machine can get around Cloudflare's blockade and write a post, all automated by a script.
