Lichtinvallen (meaning in Dutch "Incidences of Light") is a set of variations (and inversions) on a theme, for two tenor saxophones, double bass, marimba, and percussion.
Here, I tried to step away from the concept of the measure; the phrases stated by the sax last "as long as they need to", without necessarily conforming to a time signature. Rather than encasing the idea within a meter, I wanted to leave it free, unconcerned, isolated from any context.
ここでは、「小節」という概念から離れることを試みました。サックスによって提示されるフレーズは、必ずしも拍子記号に従うことなく、「必要な長さだけ」響きます。アイデアを特定の拍子の中に閉じ込めるのではなく、あらゆる文脈から切り離し、気ままに自由な状態にしておきたいと考えました。
Qui ho cercato di allontanarmi dal concetto di "battuta"; le frasi esposte dal sax durano "quel che devono", senza necessariamente conformarsi a una suddivisione di tempo. Piuttosto che incastonare l'idea all'interno di un metro, ho voluto lasciarla libera, disinvolta, isolata da qualsiasi contesto.
Hier heb ik geprobeerd afstand te nemen van het concept van de 'maat'; de frasen van de sax duren 'zo lang als nodig is', zonder zich noodzakelijkerwijs te schikken naar een maatsoort. In plaats van het idee op te sluiten binnen een metrum, wilde ik het vrij laten, onbekommerd en geïsoleerd van elke context.
Ici, j'ai cherché à m'affranchir du concept de «mesure»; les phrases énoncées par le sax durent «aussi longtemps qu'il le faut», sans nécessairement se conformer à une signature temporelle. Plutôt que d'enfermer l'idée dans une métrique, j'ai voulu la laisser libre, insouciante, isolée de tout contexte.
