Stay Close to the Good Shepherd

One of the hardest lessons we learn in life is that not everyone who appears kind is.

Some people are genuine, encouraging, and full of God’s love. Others wear a convincing mask. They know the right words to say, how to earn trust, and how to appear humble and caring. But beneath the surface, their motives are very different.

As I spent time with the Lord, He impressed this warning upon my heart:

“Beware of the deceivers, sheep in wolves’ clothing. They may look sweet and innocent, but will devour you as soon as you turn around. Always watch closely and pray for discernment to see who people really are.”

That may sound harsh, but it is actually a loving warning. God isn’t teaching us to become suspicious of everyone. He is teaching us to become spiritually discerning.

Jesus Himself warned us about wolves in sheep’s clothing because deception has always been one of Satan’s greatest weapons. The enemy rarely announces himself openly. More often, he works through subtle compromises, flattering words, false teachers, manipulative relationships, or people whose outward appearance hides a heart that is ugly.

Today’s reading in 2 Chronicles provides a striking contrast. While King Rehoboam struggled through the consequences of poor leadership, King Abijah stood before Jeroboam’s massive army and reminded Israel that God was with those who remained faithful to Him. Outnumbered two to one, Judah cried out to the Lord, the priests blew the trumpets, and God gave them victory over an enemy that appeared stronger on every level. What looked powerful was ultimately defeated because God could see what human eyes could not.

How often do we judge people only by appearances? Someone may seem trustworthy because they are charismatic, successful, funny, or even religious. Yet God sees the heart. Likewise, someone may appear weak, insignificant, or overlooked, yet they are quietly walking in integrity before Him. Discernment means learning to see beyond appearances and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what our natural eyes cannot.

Romans 8 gives us tremendous confidence in this pursuit. We are not left to figure people out on our own. Paul tells us that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and even intercedes for us according to the will of God. He also reminds us that if God is for us, who can be against us? That doesn’t mean we will never encounter deceptive people, but it does mean we never have to face them alone. The Spirit faithfully guides those who seek His wisdom.

David closes Psalm 18 by praising God as the One who gives him victory over his enemies and rescues him from violent men. David knew betrayal all too well. He had been hunted by Saul, betrayed by trusted companions, and opposed by those who pretended loyalty while secretly plotting against him. Yet through every trial, God proved Himself to be David’s Defender.

The answer is not to become fearful or cynical. Neither is it to assume the worst about everyone we meet. Instead, we are called to stay close to the Good Shepherd.

Sheep are safest when they remain near their Shepherd because He recognizes the wolves long before the sheep do. As we walk closely with Christ, He sharpens our discernment, warns us when something isn’t right, and gives us peace about those who truly belong in our lives.

The closer you walk with Jesus, the easier it becomes to recognize those who aren’t. 💎

Take 5 minutes to be with the Shepherd today. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Ask the Holy Spirit to sharpen your discernment. Before placing your trust in someone’s words, habits, or outward appearance, ask God to reveal their character. At the same time, ask Him to guard your own heart so that you reflect the character of Christ with sincerity and truth.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for being my Good Shepherd who watches over me day and night. Help me to walk in love without becoming naive and to exercise discernment without becoming cynical. Give me spiritual eyes to recognize truth from deception and wisdom to know whom I should trust. Protect me, my family, and those I love from those who would lead us away from You. Above all, keep me close to Your heart so I may hear Your voice and faithfully follow wherever You lead. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.

Trust His Loving Protection

One of the hardest answers we can receive from God is “no.”

We pray earnestly, believing what we’re asking for is good. We can see all the reasons why it makes sense, why it would make life easier, or why it would bless our family. Then the answer comes, and it isn’t what we hoped for. If we’re honest, those moments can leave us wondering why God would withhold something that seemed so right.

As I’ve been learning to trust the Lord more deeply, He reminded me of something that completely changed my perspective. He gently spoke this Gem of Knowledge to my heart: 

“I never say no to punish you. I say no when it is for your good or the good of your family. I know way more than you, and want to keep you from disaster.” 

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how often I view life through today’s circumstances while God sees the entire journey. He knows where every road leads long before I ever step onto it.

We see a glimpse of that truth in today’s reading from 2 Chronicles. Solomon spent much of his life seeking God’s wisdom, but after his death, his son Rehoboam was faced with a decision that would affect an entire nation.

Instead of listening to wise counsel, he chose the advice that appealed to his pride. That single decision divided the kingdom and brought heartache to generations that followed. Rehoboam only saw the moment in front of him, but God already knew where that path would lead.

How many times has God lovingly redirected us because He could see what we couldn’t?

Perhaps He closed a door that would have led us into unnecessary pain, protected a marriage from strain, spared a family from hardship, or kept us from making a decision that seemed good in the moment but would have become tomorrow’s regret. We may never fully know how many disasters God has quietly prevented simply by answering one of our prayers differently than we hoped.

It reminds me of that song Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks…perhaps there is more truth to that then we realize.

Paul reminds us in Romans 8 that those who belong to Christ are to be led by the Spirit, not by the desires of the flesh. That doesn’t mean we’ll always understand God’s leading, but it does mean we can trust the One who is leading us.

Our perspective is limited to what we can see today, but God sees every tomorrow. He knows the conversations we’ll have, the temptations we’ll face, the people we’ll influence, and the consequences of every choice. His wisdom reaches far beyond our own.

David understood this well. In Psalm 18, he doesn’t just praise God for rescuing him from danger; he praises Him for strengthening him, guiding him, and making his feet “as surefooted as a deer.” David had learned that God’s protection wasn’t only found in miraculous deliverance—it was also found in His faithful guidance along the way.

Sometimes we won’t understand God’s “no” until years later. Other times we may never know this side of heaven what He protected us from. But we can rest in this truth: our Heavenly Father never withholds something good to punish His children.

Every answer He gives flows from perfect wisdom and perfect love. If He closes a door, it is because He sees something we cannot. If He says no, we can trust that He is making a way that is ultimately better than the one we were asking for.💎

Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Ask Him to help you see His faithfulness in every situation and to give you greater confidence to trust His answers, even when they don’t match your plans.

Prayer

Father, thank You for loving me enough to protect me, even when I don’t understand Your answers. Help me to trust that Your “no” is never meant to harm me but to guide me according to Your perfect wisdom. Teach me to rest in Your goodness, knowing that You see what I cannot see and always desire what is best for me and those I love. Strengthen my faith to follow wherever You lead, confident that Your plans are far better than my own. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Love and Truth

Have you ever wondered how to help someone whose life seems to be falling apart?

Maybe they’ve made poor choices. Maybe they’ve been deeply hurt. Maybe they’re trapped in addiction, shame, bitterness, or sin. We want to help, but sometimes we don’t know how. Do we simply love them? Do we confront them with the truth? Which one do they need most?

As the Lord has been taking me on a journey of how to better help those who are hurting around me, the Holy Spirit gently said:

“How do you restore someone who is broken? Love and truth. That’s the only way.”

What a beautiful picture of Jesus. He is both Love and Truth. He never compromised either one. Every word He spoke was rooted in truth, and every life He touched was wrapped in love. That is why people were drawn to Him, and that is why lives were transformed in His presence.

Too often we lean toward one while neglecting the other. Love without truth can leave someone comfortable in the very thing destroying them. Truth without love can wound a heart that’s already broken and push someone farther away. But when love and truth come together, they become instruments of restoration.

Jesus demonstrated this perfectly throughout His ministry. He welcomed sinners, ate with outcasts, touched the untouchable, and offered compassion to those everyone else had rejected. Yet He also lovingly called them to leave their old lives behind. He didn’t condemn them, but neither did He ignore the sin that was hurting them.

Paul’s words in Romans 7 reveal this struggle so honestly. He describes the battle between the desire to do what is right and the reality of our sinful nature. Every believer understands that struggle. Left to ourselves, we cannot overcome it.

But Paul doesn’t leave us there – He points us to Christ.

Only Jesus can free us from what binds us. Only His love heals our wounds, and only His truth sets us free. We need both.

David understood this as well. In Psalm 18 he cries out to the Lord in his distress, and God responds with power, rescuing him because He delighted in him. What an incredible reminder that God doesn’t abandon broken people. He pursues them.

If someone in your life is struggling today, don’t choose between love and truth.

Offer both.

Love them enough to walk beside them.

Love them enough to pray for them.

Love them enough to speak God’s truth with humility and compassion.

And trust the Holy Spirit to do the restoring that only He can accomplish…Because that’s exactly how Jesus restores us. 💎

  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”

Pray that God would help you love others the way Jesus loves while giving you the wisdom and courage to speak His truth with gentleness when the opportunity comes.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for never choosing between love and truth when You deal with me. Thank You for loving me enough to pursue me and for speaking truth that sets me free. Help me reflect Your heart in the way I care for others. Fill me with compassion for the broken, courage to speak Your truth with grace, and wisdom to know when to listen, when to encourage, and when to lovingly correct. May my words and actions always point people back to You, the only One who can truly restore what has been broken. In Your beautiful name I pray, Amen.

Shine the Light of Christ

How much light do you have?

It’s a question worth asking—not because Jesus’ light is limited, but because our willingness to continually seek Him often is.

God challenged me with these questions as my Gem of Knowledge today:

“How much light do you have? How much oil do you have? How bright do you keep your lamp burning? Enough for others to come to the light or just enough to barely see for yourself? Who will have the more rewarding journey? Amen.”

That last question stopped me.

Is my walk with Christ just enough to get me through the day? Or is my life shining brightly enough that someone else might be drawn toward Jesus because of what they see in me?

When Solomon dedicated the temple, every detail reflected God’s glory. The temple wasn’t built to draw attention to itself. It was built so people would encounter the presence of God. In much the same way, our lives were never meant to point people to ourselves. We are living temples of the Holy Spirit, called to reflect His light in a dark world.

Paul reminds us in Romans 7 that the law exposes our sin, but it cannot transform our hearts. Only Jesus can do that. The brighter His light shines within us, the more clearly we recognize the areas He wants to refine. His light doesn’t condemn us—it lovingly reveals what still needs to be surrendered so we can become more like Him.

David writes in Psalm 17,

“Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.” (Psalm 17:8, NLT)

What a beautiful picture of God’s care. As we remain close to Him, protected beneath His wings, He continues filling our lamps with fresh oil and His light shines more brightly through us.

The truth is, people who are lost don’t need to see a dimly glowing faith. They need to see the hope, peace, joy, and love that only Jesus can produce. They need someone whose lamp is burning brightly enough to help guide them toward the Savior.

So don’t settle for just enough oil to make it through another day.

Spend time with Jesus. Stay in His Word. Worship Him. Pray. Let Him continually refill your lamp. This is where we find peace in your storms, joy in any circumstance, contentment that the world can never satisfy, forgiveness for yourself and others, wisdom for our decisions, strength for our weaknesses, and hope that never fades. As His light fills us, it naturally begins to overflow into every conversation, every decision, and every relationship.

Don’t simply ask yourself, “Do I have enough oil?”

Ask yourself, “Is my lamp burning brightly enough that someone else can find Jesus because of the light they see in me?”

Choose today to spend time in His presence, open His Word, worship Him, and let Him refill your heart.

Go shine. You never know whose path God intends to illuminate through your life. 💎

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”

Allow Him to refill your heart with fresh oil so His light shines through you.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being the Light of the world. I don’t want to settle for a dimly burning lamp or yesterday’s oil. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit and help me remain close to You every day. Let my life shine so brightly with Your love, truth, and peace that others are drawn to you, not because of me, but because they see You in me. Keep my lamp burning until the day I see You face to face. In Your mighty name I pray, Amen.

Over the next three weeks, we’ll journey together through a simple but life-changing question every follower of Christ must answer. We’ll explore what it means to seek Jesus, follow His calling, and abide in His presence. While these truths are closely connected, each deserves time to be prayerfully considered.

This week, we begin with one question:

What are you seeking?

Jesus made a promise in Matthew 7:7:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.”

Most of us know those words by heart. But have you ever stopped to consider what you’re actually seeking?

The truth is, we always find what our hearts are pursuing.

If we seek approval, we’ll spend our lives trying to please people.

If we seek comfort, we’ll avoid anything that feels difficult.

If we seek success, we’ll measure our worth by accomplishments that never fully satisfy.

But when we seek Jesus, we discover something far greater than temporary fulfillment—we find the One who satisfies our souls.

What we seek shapes the way we see the world.

No one asks for difficult seasons. We naturally pray for healing, answers, and relief. Yet faith has a remarkable way of changing our perspective.

Faith doesn’t deny the pain of a trial. Faith reminds us that God is still present within it.

Sometimes the greatest blessing isn’t that the trial ends quickly. Sometimes it’s realizing that God is accomplishing something in us that could only happen through the struggle.

James tells us to consider it pure joy when we face trials because they produce perseverance. That doesn’t mean we celebrate suffering. It means we trust that God is working even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

It takes faith to recognize blessings that don’t arrive in the package we expected.

The more we seek Christ, the more we begin looking for His fingerprints instead of focusing only on our problems.

What Are You Looking For?

Have you ever noticed that when you’re shopping for a particular vehicle, you suddenly see that same model everywhere?

The cars were always there. You simply became aware of what you were looking for.

The same principle applies spiritually.

If you’re looking for reasons to doubt, you’ll probably find them.

If you’re looking for reasons to complain, you’ll discover plenty.

But if you’re seeking God’s presence, you’ll begin noticing His faithfulness in places you may have overlooked before.

A conversation.

An answered prayer.

An unexpected opportunity.

A quiet moment in His Word.

A peace that doesn’t make sense.

God’s presence often becomes most visible to those who intentionally seek Him.

It’s easy to seek what God can do for us.

We pray for wisdom.

Strength.

Healing.

Provision.

Direction.

These are all good gifts from a loving Father.

But God never intended for us to seek His hand more than His heart.

His greatest gift has always been Himself.

When we seek Jesus first, everything else begins to find its proper place. Our circumstances may not immediately change, but our perspective does. We begin to trust Him not only for what He provides, but because of who He is.

That kind of faith anchors us when life becomes uncertain.

Seek, Follow, Abide: Part 1 – What Are You Seeking?

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: 2 Chronicles 1:1–3:17 • Romans 6:1–23 • Psalm 16:1–11 • Proverbs 19:20–21

Filled With His Light

Have you ever noticed that darkness doesn’t have to be invited? It seems to creep into our lives naturally. A little discouragement here. A little compromise there. A little less time with God. Before we know it, our joy begins to fade, our peace grows dim, and we wonder why our spiritual fire isn’t burning like it once did.

The problem is that darkness doesn’t need our permission to grow. It only needs us to stop intentionally filling ourselves with the Light.

God reminded me of this in today’s Gem of Knowledge:

“Darkness will consume you if you don’t intentionally fill yourself with light—Me and My Word. Amen.”

Light isn’t something we accidentally stumble into. It’s something we intentionally pursue. Just as a lamp eventually burns through its oil, our hearts can begin to grow dim when we neglect the One who continually fills us. We were never meant to shine on yesterday’s oil.

Solomon understood this when he first became king. Before asking for wealth or victory, he sought the Lord. He desired wisdom more than anything else because he knew he couldn’t lead God’s people without God’s guidance. Solomon intentionally sought God first, and God richly supplied everything else he needed.

The same principle applies to us.

Every day we’re being shaped by something. The news, social media, entertainment, conversations, fears, disappointments, and endless distractions all compete for our attention. If we’re not intentionally filling our minds with God’s truth, something else will gladly take its place. Our lamp may still be burning, but without continually drawing near to the Lord, the oil begins to run low.

Paul reminds us in Romans 6 that we are no longer slaves to sin but servants of righteousness. That freedom wasn’t given so we could drift through life spiritually. It was given so we could intentionally present ourselves to God each day. Every day we choose what we will feed, and whatever we continually feed will grow stronger. As we abide in Christ, He faithfully replenishes what this world constantly tries to drain.

David beautifully declares in Psalm 16,

“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.” (Psalm 16:11, NLT)

Notice where joy is found—not in circumstances, but in His presence.

When we spend time with Jesus, open His Word, worship Him, and talk with Him throughout the day, He pours fresh oil into our lives. His Spirit renews us. His truth exposes the lies we’ve believed. His presence strengthens our weary hearts, and His light pushes back the darkness that was trying to settle in.

Don’t wait until your lamp is nearly empty before seeking Him. Spend time with Him today. Let Him fill you again, so your light continues to shine brightly in a world that desperately needs to see Him. 💎

Take at least 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Be filled by His presence then ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”

Take inventory of what has been filling your heart lately. Is it drawing you closer to Jesus or pulling your attention away from Him? Be intentional with your time today to read God’s Word, pray, and simply enjoy His presence. Let Him replenish the oil that keeps your light burning brightly.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being the Light of my life. Forgive me for the times I’ve allowed other things to fill my heart more than Your presence. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, and let Your Word renew my mind each day. Keep my lamp burning brightly with fresh oil so that Your light shines through me wherever I go. Draw me closer to You, and help me walk in Your truth every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Learn To Fight God’s Way

When we hear the words spiritual warfare, one of two things often happens. Some people scoff at it as though it isn’t real, while others immediately picture dramatic battles between good and evil.

The truth is, neither response gives us a complete biblical picture. Spiritual warfare is real, and it must be acknowledged if we expect to walk in the victory God has for us. But God hasn’t called us to fear the battle—He’s called us to learn how to fight it.

Today’s Gem reminds us,

“Spiritual warfare is real. Learn to fight there if you want to win here. Amen.”

Notice that God doesn’t simply tell us to recognize the battle. He tells us to learn how to fight it. Just as David spent years learning to lead, shepherd, and fight physical battles, we too must grow spiritually so we know how to stand firm when the enemy attacks.

One of Satan’s greatest victories is convincing believers that the real battle doesn’t exist. After all, an unseen battle is rarely fought. Yet Scripture reminds us that many of life’s greatest victories or defeats begin long before they ever become visible. The battlefield is often our hearts and minds, where lies compete with God’s truth, fear challenges faith, bitterness opposes forgiveness, and pride resists humility. Learning to recognize those battles is the first step toward winning them.

David understood this well. As he prepared Solomon to become king, he didn’t spend his final moments explaining military strategy or political leadership. Instead, he urged his son to seek the Lord wholeheartedly and obey His commands. David knew that Israel’s future would never depend primarily on the strength of its army. It would depend on the strength of its relationship with God. Before Solomon would ever face enemies on the battlefield, he would first need to win the spiritual battle for his own heart.

That same principle is beautifully displayed in today’s reading from Romans. Paul reminds us that humanity’s greatest battle was never against Rome, difficult circumstances, or earthly kingdoms. Our greatest enemy was sin itself, and we were powerless to overcome it on our own. Yet while we were still sinners, Christ stepped into the battle we could never win.

“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
—Romans 5:8 (NLT)

Because of Jesus, we don’t fight hoping to earn victory. We fight from the victory He has already secured through the cross. That changes everything. We no longer battle for God’s acceptance—we battle because we already belong to Him.

So what does that battle look like?

Sometimes it looks like refusing to believe the lie that God has abandoned you.

Sometimes it looks like choosing forgiveness when resentment feels justified.

Sometimes it means replacing fear with faith, temptation with obedience, discouragement with hope, or pride with humility.

Those may sound like ordinary decisions, but they are often some of the hardest battles we will ever fight. Left to ourselves, we don’t have the strength to win them consistently. That’s why we don’t fight in our own power—we fight in the power and authority of Jesus Christ. Through His Holy Spirit, His Word, and the power of His name, He gives us the strength to overcome what we never could on our own.

Psalm 15 paints a picture of a person who walks closely with God. They live with integrity, speak truth, keep their promises, and refuse to harm others. Those aren’t simply good character traits—they’re evidence of a heart that is winning the unseen battles before the visible ones ever appear.

Perhaps that’s the reminder we all need today. If we want to win the battles we face in our homes, our relationships, our workplaces, and our daily lives, we must first learn to fight the battles that take place within us.

Victory begins in prayer before it is seen in our circumstances.

It begins by filling our minds with God’s Word, rebuking the lies of the enemy in Jesus’ name, surrendering our hearts to His Spirit, and choosing obedience one decision at a time.

Spiritual warfare is real.

Ignoring it doesn’t make it disappear.

But neither does fearing it.

God has already given us everything we need through Jesus Christ to stand firm.

Don’t wait until life falls apart to learn how to fight. Learn to fight with God today, and you’ll be ready when tomorrow’s battles come.💎

Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that spiritual warfare is real and that You have not left me defenseless. Teach me to recognize the battles taking place within my heart and mind, and help me fight them with Your truth instead of my own strength. Thank You that You have already won the greatest victory through the cross. Fill me with Your Spirit, strengthen my faith, and help me walk each day in the victory You have already provided. May my life bring glory to You as I learn to fight Your way. In Your beautiful and mighty name I pray. Amen.

Someone Needs You to Keep Going

Have you ever wondered if your faithfulness is making any difference?

I’m sure most of us have. We pray for people who never seem to change. We continue serving without recognition. We try to live for Christ in a world that often seems to be moving in the opposite direction. Sometimes it can feel like we’re fighting an uphill battle with very little to show for it.

That is why today’s Gem is so encouraging.

“Keep fighting the good fight. You never know who you might rescue along the way. Amen.”

It reminds us that our lives are never lived in isolation. Every decision we make, every word we speak, every act of obedience, and every moment we choose to trust God instead of giving up has the potential to impact someone else’s life. We may never know just how far those ripples travel, but God does.

As I read today’s passage in Romans, I couldn’t help but notice that Paul doesn’t tell believers to rejoice because life is easy. He tells us to rejoice in our troubles because God is using them to produce something beautiful within us. Endurance produces strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope in the Lord.

God doesn’t waste our struggles; He transforms them into a testimony of His faithfulness.

Have you ever been encouraged simply by watching another believer remain faithful through a difficult season? Maybe you’ve seen someone walk through grief without losing their trust in God, or you’ve watched someone continue serving even after being hurt or disappointed. Their perseverance quietly preached a sermon without ever stepping behind a pulpit.

That is often how God rescues people – Not through spectacular miracles alone, but through ordinary believers who refuse to quit.

Someone notices your patience.

Someone sees your integrity.

Someone watches you forgive when revenge would have been easier.

Someone hears you speak with hope while everyone else is filled with fear.

Those moments may seem small to you, but God can use them to awaken faith in someone who desperately needs it.

Even today’s reading in Chronicles reflects this truth. The chapter is filled with gatekeepers, officers, commanders, and leaders faithfully carrying out the responsibilities God had entrusted to them. Most of their names are unfamiliar to us, yet their faithful service helped strengthen an entire nation. They may never have realized the significance of their obedience, but God recorded their faithfulness for generations to read.

Our lives are much the same.

Very few of us will ever influence thousands of people, but every one of us has been given a circle of influence that no one else has. Your family, your friends, your coworkers, your neighbors—even strangers you meet for only a moment—may all encounter Jesus because you chose to keep walking with Him.

Perhaps that is why God says, “Keep fighting the good fight.” He knows that when we become discouraged, we’re tempted to think our faithfulness no longer matters. The truth is, someone may be watching your life today and finding the courage to keep believing because they see you still trusting God.

So don’t grow weary!

Keep praying.

Keep loving.

Keep serving.

Keep trusting.

You never know who God might rescue along the way because you simply refused to give up. 💎

Dear Father, thank You for reminding me that my faithfulness has a purpose beyond what I can see. When I grow weary, strengthen me to keep fighting the good fight. Help me to trust that You are working through my life, even when I don’t see immediate results. Use my words, my actions, and my perseverance to point others toward Jesus. May my life encourage someone else to keep believing, and may You receive all the glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One Step At A Time

Discouragement has a way of quietly working its way into our hearts. It rarely announces itself all at once. More often, it begins with disappointment after an unanswered prayer, exhaustion from continually doing the right thing, or wondering if our efforts are making any difference. If left unchecked, discouragement can slowly convince us that giving up would be easier than continuing to trust God.

That is why today’s Gem is such a timely reminder:

“You will only be defeated if you give up on Me and doing what is right. Don’t give up. Amen.”

What struck me most about this Gem is what God defines as defeat. We often think defeat comes when life falls apart, when we fail, or when our circumstances don’t improve. But God paints a very different picture. Hardships don’t defeat us. Delays don’t defeat us. Even our failures don’t have the final word if we continue to turn back to Him. True defeat comes only when we stop trusting Him and choose to walk away from what is right.

David understood what it felt like to struggle with discouragement. In Psalm 13 he poured out his heart before the Lord, asking, “How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?” Those aren’t the words of a man who has everything figured out; they’re the honest cry of someone whose faith is being tested. Yet by the end of the psalm, David hasn’t received the answer he was hoping for. His circumstances haven’t suddenly changed. Instead, his perspective has.

He writes, “But I trust in Your unfailing love. I will rejoice because You have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD because He is good to me.” David chose to anchor himself in God’s character instead of his circumstances. He remembered who God had always been, and that remembrance gave him the strength to keep trusting even before the answer arrived.

That same kind of faith is beautifully illustrated in Romans 4 through the life of Abraham. Paul reminds us that Abraham was declared righteous because he believed God. Long before he ever held the promised son in his arms, Abraham chose to trust the One who made the promise. His faith wasn’t based on what he could see; it was based on the faithfulness of God.

Perhaps that is the lesson woven through today’s readings:

Faithfulness is not the absence of struggle. It is the decision to keep following God in the middle of it.

Most days, that faithfulness isn’t dramatic. It looks like continuing to pray when you haven’t yet received an answer. It looks like choosing integrity when compromise would be easier. It looks like opening God’s Word when your heart feels dry, forgiving someone one more time, serving quietly without recognition, or taking the next step of obedience even when you cannot see where the path leads.

The enemy would love nothing more than for you to believe your perseverance is pointless. God says the opposite. Every time you continue trusting Him and choosing what is right, you are walking in victory, even if you can’t yet see the outcome.

If you’re feeling weary today, don’t mistake weariness for defeat. As long as you continue holding on to Christ, He is still leading you forward. The battle may not be over, but neither is your story. Keep trusting. Keep obeying. Keep doing what is right.

Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me that my circumstances do not determine whether I have been defeated. Help me to keep trusting You when I grow weary and to continue doing what is right even when I don’t immediately see the results. Strengthen my faith like Abraham’s, and help me remember Your faithfulness like David did. Keep my eyes fixed on You, and give me the courage to keep walking one step at a time. Thank You for never giving up on me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Pray For Your Enemies

One of the beautiful ways God teaches us is through repetition.

When He keeps bringing the same truth before us, it is often because He is inviting us to move beyond simply hearing it and begin living it.

For the past week, the Lord has been gently turning our attention away from ourselves and toward those who are hurting. Day after day, He has reminded us to see the broken, show compassion, love faithfully, and stand in the gap through prayer.

Then today…

He raises the bar.

“Pray for your enemies. They may turn from their evil ways, and so may you. Amen.”

I’ll admit, my first thought was, “Ooof…”

It’s one thing to pray for people we love. It’s another to pray for people we don’t know. But praying for those who have wounded us, lied about us, rejected us, or treated us unfairly—that requires a work of God in our hearts.

Perhaps that’s exactly the point.

Notice what the Gem says. It doesn’t only say they may turn from their evil ways.

It also says “…and so may you.”

Sometimes we assume the greatest problem is the other person’s sin. Yet while they may be struggling with anger, pride, bitterness, or deception, we can quietly begin wrestling with resentment, unforgiveness, self-righteousness, or a desire for revenge.

God cares about both hearts.

In today’s reading, Paul reminds us of a truth that levels the ground beneath every one of us:

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
— Romans 3:23 (NLT)

There are no “good people” and “bad people” standing before God. There are only sinners in need of grace.

That doesn’t excuse evil, nor does it mean we ignore wisdom or healthy boundaries. But it does remind us that the same mercy that rescued us is the mercy God desires to extend to others.

David understood this perspective throughout much of his life. Although he certainly defended himself against evil, he repeatedly refused to take vengeance into his own hands. He trusted God to judge righteously while continuing to seek the Lord.

Psalm 12 reminds us that God sees every act of injustice.

“The LORD replies, ‘I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.'”
— Psalm 12:5 (NLT)

Because God sees perfectly, we don’t have to carry the burden of revenge.

Instead, we can pray.

Not because our enemies deserve it.

Because we didn’t deserve God’s mercy either.

Imagine what could happen if the person who hurt you genuinely encountered Jesus. Imagine if bitterness gave way to repentance, pride became humility, and hatred was transformed into love. Isn’t that exactly what happened in each of our own lives?

Prayer doesn’t always change the other person immediately.

But it almost always changes the one who is praying.

It softens our hearts, reminds us of the grace we’ve received, and helps us entrust justice to the One who judges perfectly.

Perhaps the greatest miracle begins long before our enemy changes.

Perhaps it begins when our own heart becomes more like Christ’s. 💎

Allow the Lord to guide you today and transform your heart and free you from any hurt or bitterness that may be lingering.

Father, this is not an easy prayer, but I know Your ways are higher than mine. Thank You for showing me mercy when I didn’t deserve it. Help me extend that same mercy to those who have hurt me. I pray that You would reveal Yourself to my enemies, draw them to repentance, and transform their hearts through Your love. At the same time, search my own heart. Remove any bitterness, resentment, pride, or unforgiveness that keeps me from becoming more like Jesus. Teach me to trust You with justice while responding with grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

They Need You

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that when the Lord continues repeating the same message, I need to stop and pay close attention.

For the past seven devotionals, every Gem He has given me has pointed back to the same theme: caring for those who are hurting. First, He reminded us that many people are tormented and need us to stand in the gap through prayer and intercession. Then He called us to help others find Him, to show compassion because we don’t know the battles people are fighting, to soften our hearts toward those who are struggling, and to remember that even the smallest acts of love can have an eternal impact. Yesterday, He reminded us that we may never fully realize the difference our love makes this side of heaven.

Now today’s Gem says,

“Allot time in your day to pray for the lost and broken. They need you the most. Amen.”

Seven days. One message.

I don’t believe that’s a coincidence.

Perhaps the Lord is calling us to do more than simply read these words. Perhaps He is asking us to slow down, let this truth settle deeply into our hearts, and begin living it intentionally. The lost, the broken, the lonely, and the weary are all around us. They don’t just need our sympathy—they need our compassion, our prayers, our encouragement, and our willingness to point them to Jesus.

It’s easy to fill our prayer time with our own needs. We pray for our families, our finances, our health, our decisions, and the burdens weighing heavily on our own hearts. None of these prayers are wrong—our heavenly Father delights in hearing every concern we bring to Him.

Btut here are countless people around us carrying burdens they were never meant to carry alone. Some have wandered far from God. Others have never known His love at all. Many wear smiles while quietly battling addiction, loneliness, depression, fear, guilt, or hopelessness. They may never ask us to pray for them, but God knows exactly who they are.

In today’s reading, David witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of sin after taking a census against God’s will. Thousands suffered because of one man’s pride. Yet when David recognized his sin, he didn’t simply accept the judgment. He interceded.

He cried out to God,

“I am the one who has sinned and done wrong! But these people are as innocent as sheep—what have they done?” —1 Chronicles 21:17 (NLT)

David stood between the people and God’s judgment, pleading for mercy. His heart had shifted from self-preservation to compassion.

That is what intercession does.

It moves us from thinking only about ourselves to carrying others before the throne of God.

Paul reminds us in Romans that every person stands in need of God’s grace. No one earns salvation by outward appearances or religious rituals. Every heart needs the mercy that only Christ can give.

Psalm 11 offers tremendous comfort in this calling:

“The LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth.” —Psalm 11:4 (NLT)

God already sees every lost soul, every broken heart, every prodigal child, every struggling marriage, every lonely widow, every frightened teenager, every weary parent, every person trapped in addiction, and every individual silently crying out for hope.

He invites us to join Him in His work by praying for them.

We may never know whose eternity is changed because someone faithfully lifted their name before the Lord. We may never hear about the person who found hope after months of despair or the family restored because believers refused to stop praying.

But heaven knows.

Never underestimate what God can do through a few quiet moments spent interceding for someone who may never even know you prayed.

One sincere prayer offered in love may become the beginning of someone’s miracle. 💎

Ask God to place specific people on your heart—the lost, the broken, the discouraged, the prodigal, or even someone who has hurt you. Trust Him to use your prayers in ways you may never fully see.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for loving the lost and broken so deeply. Forgive me for becoming so focused on my own needs that I forget those who desperately need Your mercy. Place people on my heart each day, and teach me to faithfully stand in the gap for them. Draw the lost to salvation, strengthen the weary, heal the brokenhearted, and let my prayers become part of Your work in their lives. May I never underestimate the power of praying for someone else. In Your name I pray, amen.

Keep Loving… You Never Know

It can be discouraging to love people who seem determined to reject God. We pray, encourage, forgive, and patiently walk beside them, yet sometimes it feels like nothing changes. The temptation is to believe our efforts have been wasted or that someone is simply too far gone.

But today’s Gem of Knowledge reminds us that heaven sees what we cannot.

“You may not fully realize the difference your love can make while in this world, but someday you will. Don’t give up on people. Just keep loving, even when they seem lost or too far gone. You just never know what could happen. Amen.”

Our responsibility has never been to change hearts. That belongs to God. Our calling is to faithfully love, pray, speak truth with grace, and leave the results in His hands.

In today’s reading, David’s victories in 1 Chronicles were not accomplished overnight. They came one battle at a time as he faithfully followed the Lord. In the same way, God often works in people’s hearts through countless small moments that may seem insignificant to us. A kind word, a patient response, a prayer whispered in secret, or a simple act of compassion may become another step God uses to draw someone closer to Himself.

Paul echoes this truth in Romans 2. He reminds us that it is God’s kindness that leads people to repentance—not our harshness, condemnation, or impatience.

“Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you?… Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” — Romans 2:4 (NLT)

How many times has God’s kindness patiently pursued each one of us? How many people loved us before we finally surrendered to Christ? Most of us can look back and see countless individuals God placed in our lives long before we realized how much they were influencing us.

Psalm 10 reminds us that God sees every hurting person. He hears the cries of the oppressed and strengthens those whose hope is in Him.

“LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.” — Psalm 10:17 (NLT)

That means no prayer is unnoticed. No loving act is forgotten. Even if we never witness the harvest, God does.

Perhaps the person you’ve been praying for will remember your kindness years from now when they reach the end of themselves. Maybe the child who seems uninterested today will one day recall your faithful example. Perhaps the coworker who laughs at your faith will someday seek you out because they know where genuine hope can be found.

We rarely see the entire story while we’re living it.

One day, whether in this life or the next, God may reveal just how many lives were touched because you chose to keep loving instead of giving up.

So don’t quit – Jesus never does.

Keep loving.

Keep praying.

Keep forgiving.

Keep pointing people toward Jesus.

Because you never know what God is doing beneath the surface. 💎

Think of one person you’ve been tempted to give up on. Instead of withdrawing, ask God to show you one simple way to demonstrate His love to them this week—whether through prayer, encouragement, forgiveness, or a quiet act of kindness.

Prayer

Father, thank You for never giving up on me. Help me to love people with the same patience and kindness You have shown me. When I become discouraged, remind me that You are always working in ways I cannot see. Give me strength to keep praying, keep loving, and keep pointing others to Jesus, trusting You with the outcome. Use even the smallest acts of obedience for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Words are powerful.

With a few carefully chosen words, we can inspire someone to keep going, mend a broken relationship, or offer hope in a difficult season. Yet words can also wound, discourage, and leave scars that last for years.

Think about the words that have impacted your life. Perhaps someone spoke encouragement over you when you doubted yourself. Maybe a teacher, mentor, friend, or family member saw something in you that you could not yet see in yourself. Their words helped shape who you became.

Unfortunately, many of us can also recall hurtful words that have lingered long after they were spoken. Words have a way of embedding themselves in our hearts and influencing how we see ourselves and the world around us.

That is why John 1:1 is so profound:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John identifies Jesus as the Word. Before creation, before time itself, the Word existed. Through Him, God brought life, order, and purpose into the world.

God chose words to create.

Throughout Scripture, we see the power of God’s spoken Word. He spoke light into darkness. He spoke truth into confusion. He spoke life where there was nothing.

If words matter so much to God, they should matter to us.

As followers of Christ, we have an opportunity every day to reflect His character through the words we speak. Our conversations can bring healing instead of hurt. Our comments can build confidence instead of tearing people down. Our encouragement can help others see what God is doing in their lives.

Encouragement is more than simply saying something nice. It is intentionally speaking truth, hope, and life into someone else’s journey. Encouragement reminds people that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.

The world offers plenty of criticism, negativity, and division. Social media feeds, news headlines, and daily conversations can quickly become places where people feel attacked rather than uplifted.

What if Christians became known for encouragement?

What if our words reflected the heart of Christ?

What if we paused before speaking and asked ourselves, “Will these words build up or tear down?”

Every day presents opportunities to encourage:

• Thank someone for their faithfulness.
• Speak hope to someone who is struggling.
• Send a text of appreciation.
• Pray with a friend.
• Remind someone of God’s promises.

Small words can have a lasting impact.

Today, choose to encourage.

Let your words reflect the One who is called the Word. Let them bring light into someone’s darkness and hope into someone’s uncertainty.

Because words are never neutral. They shape how we see ourselves, others, and God. They can unite or divide, heal or harm, inspire or discourage.

May we use our words wisely and intentionally, choosing encouragement wherever we go.

I Choose to Encourage: The Power of Words

Today’s One Year Bible Verses: 1 Chronicles 15:1–16:36, Romans 1:18–32, Psalm 10:1–15, Proverbs 19:6–7

Small Acts. Eternal Impact.

It’s easy to believe that making a difference requires doing something big.

We imagine changing someone’s life by giving a large gift, leading a ministry, or accomplishing something extraordinary. Yet God often works in exactly the opposite way. Throughout Scripture, He delights in using what seems small to accomplish what seems impossible.

In today’s Gem of Knowledge, the Lord reminds us,

“Giant impacts can come from small things. Think of a meteor. They are fairly small compared to the impact they make. Your loving kindness can be like that to a hurting heart. Amen.”

What a beautiful picture.

A meteor is tiny compared to a planet, yet when it collides with the earth, its impact can be enormous. In much the same way, a simple act of kindness may seem insignificant to us, but we rarely see the lasting effect it has on another person’s heart.

As I read today’s passages, I was drawn to David’s celebration as the Ark of the Covenant was finally brought to Jerusalem. It was a day filled with worship, rejoicing, music, and thanksgiving. But one detail especially stood out to me. After the celebration, David blessed the people in the name of the Lord, and then he gave every man and woman a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins.

At first glance, it doesn’t seem like much.

It wasn’t a fortune. It wasn’t a grand display of wealth.

It was a simple gift.

Yet it communicated something far greater. David wasn’t simply feeding people. He was reminding every person that they were seen, valued, included, and cared for. Sometimes love is expressed through remarkably ordinary acts of generosity.

Isn’t that how God often works in our lives?

A timely phone call.

An encouraging text.

A warm smile.

A handwritten note.

A sincere prayer.

A meal delivered to someone who is overwhelmed.

None of those things seem particularly large on their own. Yet at just the right moment, they can become the very evidence someone needed to believe that God still sees them.

Paul reminds us in Romans that our world desperately needs God because without Him, hearts become darkened and people drift farther from His truth. In a culture that often chooses selfishness over compassion, every act of Christlike kindness becomes a light pointing people back to the heart of God.

David declared in today’s psalm, “Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them” (Psalm 10:17, NLT). What an incredible thought. God hears the cries no one else hears. And sometimes He answers those prayers by sending one of His children to offer a simple act of love.

Even Proverbs reminds us how lonely life can become for those who are struggling. It says, “The poor are avoided even by their own neighbors—while the rich have many ‘friends'” (Proverbs 19:7, NLT). The world is often drawn to people who have something to offer, but Jesus was drawn to those everyone else overlooked.

As His followers, we are called to do the same.

Never underestimate the power of your kindness.

You may think it’s only a conversation.

Only a hug.

Only a prayer.

Only an invitation.

Only a few encouraging words.

But God specializes in taking what seems small and using it to accomplish something eternal.

You may never know this side of Heaven how one simple act of loving kindness changed the course of someone’s life.

So don’t wait until you think you can do something great.

Do something loving today.

God can make the impact far greater than you ever imagined. 💎

Action (5 Minutes with God)

Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Allow the Lord to direct you to someone who may need your loving kindness today. Trust Him to use your obedience in ways you may never see.

Prayer

Dear Lord,, thank You for showing me kindness over and over again, even in the smallest ways. Help me never overlook the opportunities You place before me to encourage someone else. Fill my heart with compassion and open my eyes to those who are hurting. Teach me to be faithful in the little things, trusting that You can use even the smallest act of love to make an eternal difference. May my words, my actions, and my kindness always point others to You. In Your mighty name I pray, amen.

A Soft Heart Begins with God

Have you ever noticed how easy it is for our hearts to become a little harder with each disappointment?

Someone betrays our trust. Another person takes advantage of our kindness. We help someone who never says thank you. Before long, we begin protecting ourselves. We become more cautious, less patient, and a little slower to show compassion because we don’t want to be hurt again.

While those feelings are understandable, they are not where God wants us to remain.

In today’s Gem of Knowledge, the Lord lovingly says,

“Soften your heart towards all people, specially those who are struggling. Find it within yourself to help them and love them as you rely on Me as your Source. Amen.”

I love that last phrase: “as you rely on Me as your Source.“

God never asks us to love others out of our own limited strength. If He did, we would eventually run dry. Instead, He invites us to receive His love first, then allow it to overflow into the lives of others. The more we draw from Him, the more compassion we have to give.

1 Chronicles 12-14 gives us a beautiful picture of this. As David’s kingdom grew stronger, people from every tribe continued coming to him. Some had once stood on the opposite side. Others came from different backgrounds, experiences, and loyalties. Yet David welcomed those whom God was bringing to him. He wasn’t building a kingdom based on favoritism or past mistakes. He was allowing God to unite people with different stories into one purpose.

That is still how God works today.

The church is filled with people from different walks of life. Some are mature in their faith. Others have only recently come to know Christ. Some are overcoming addiction. Others are healing from deep wounds, broken relationships, or years of guilt and shame. None of us arrive without scars.

Instead of asking, “Why are they like that?” perhaps we should begin asking, “Lord, what have they walked through?”

That simple change in perspective softens our hearts.

Paul understood this as well. As he opened his letter to the Romans, he declared that he was “not ashamed of the Good News about Christ, for it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16, NLT). The gospel is for everyone—the wealthy and the poor, the religious and the rebellious, the successful and the struggling. If God’s grace is offered so freely to all, then our hearts should never become selective in who we choose to love.

David also reminds us in today’s Psalm that God sees those who suffer. He prays, “LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me” (Psalm 9:13, NLT). God hears the cries that no one else hears. He notices the pain that others overlook. When we choose compassion, we begin reflecting the very heart of our Father.

Proverbs warns us that “Wealth makes many ‘friends’; poverty drives them all away” (Proverbs 19:4, NLT). Sadly, the world often values people for what they can offer instead of simply loving them because they bear God’s image. As followers of Christ, we are called to be different. We don’t love people because they can benefit us. We love them because Christ first loved us.

Perhaps today you’ll encounter someone who is struggling, or maybe you struggle with them.

Maybe they’re discouraged.

Maybe they’re lonely.

Maybe they’re difficult to love.

Instead of allowing your heart to harden, ask the Lord to soften it. Ask Him to let you see that person through His eyes and love them with His love. You may not be able to solve every problem they face, but you can offer kindness, encouragement, a listening ear, or a sincere prayer.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for someone is simply reminding them they are seen, valued, and loved.

When we rely on God as our Source, our compassion doesn’t run out.

Because His never does. 💎

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me with patience, mercy, and grace. Forgive me for the times my heart has become hardened by disappointment or hurt. Fill me again with Your love and help me rely on You as my Source so I never grow weary of loving others. Open my eyes to those who are struggling and give me the courage to encourage them, serve them, and point them to You. May my heart reflect the compassion of Jesus in every conversation and every opportunity You place before me. In Your precious name I pray, amen.

See Beyond the Surface

How quickly we can make assumptions about people.

We see someone who is impatient and think they’re rude. We meet someone who seems distant and assume they don’t care. Someone lashes out, and we conclude they’re simply mean or difficult.

But what if we’re only seeing the surface?

In today’s Gem of Knowledge, the Lord gently reminds us,

“Be compassionate and loving to everyone. You don’t know all they battle, the enemy that torments them, and the pain they carry. Always show loving kindness, mercy, and grace. Like Me. Amen.”

Those words invite us to pause before we judge and to remember that every person we encounter is fighting battles we may never see.

Today’s reading in Acts gives us a beautiful picture of this kind of compassion. After surviving a terrifying shipwreck, Paul and the others washed ashore on the island of Malta. The people there could have viewed these strangers with suspicion or ignored their needs altogether. Instead, Scripture tells us they “showed us unusual kindness.” They welcomed them, built a fire because of the cold and rain, and cared for complete strangers in their time of need.

That simple act of compassion became the beginning of a testimony. Paul would go on to heal many who were sick on the island, and the people who had shown kindness were themselves greatly blessed. Their mercy opened the door for God to work in powerful ways.

How often does God do the same through us?

A smile may brighten someone’s darkest day. A listening ear may become the answer to a prayer. A simple act of kindness may be the very thing that reminds someone God has not forgotten them.

Proverbs reminds us, 

“Better to be poor and honest than a fool who speaks dishonestly” (Proverbs 19:1, NLT).

True wisdom isn’t measured only by what we know but also by how we treat people. A gracious heart reflects the character of Christ far more than clever words ever could.

David understood God’s character well. In Psalm 9 he declares, 

“The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9, NLT).

If God is a refuge for the hurting, shouldn’t His children become places of refuge too? We are called to reflect His heart by extending mercy instead of condemnation, patience instead of irritation, and compassion instead of criticism.

Imagine if every person you met today was carrying an invisible backpack filled with grief, fear, anxiety, disappointment, or a spiritual enemy that oppressed them.

Would you speak differently?

Would you be slower to judge?

Would you offer more grace?

Jesus did.

He saw beyond people’s behavior and into their hearts. He noticed the overlooked, welcomed the rejected, touched the untouchable, forgave the guilty, and loved those everyone else had written off.

He calls us to do the same.

You may never fully know what someone is carrying. But you can choose to lighten their load instead of adding to it. Let your words heal instead of wound. Let your actions reflect the kindness of Christ.

Because sometimes the greatest sermon we preach is simply the way we love people. 💎

Take 5 minutes to be with the Lord today. Ask Him:

• “Lord, what do You want me to know about this personally?”
  • Journal what He gives you through His Holy Spirit.
• Then ask, “What do You want me to do?”
  • Journal what He reveals – then do it!

Let the Lord reveal your own personal revelation on this today. Then as you walk throughout your day, before reacting to someone’s words or actions today, pause and ask yourself, “What battle might they be fighting that I cannot see?” Then choose to respond with the same compassion, mercy, and grace that Jesus continually shows you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the endless mercy and grace You have shown me. Forgive me for the times I have judged others without knowing their struggles. Help me to see people through Your eyes. Fill my heart with compassion, my words with kindness, and my actions with love. Make me a refuge for the hurting and a reflection of Your grace wherever I go. May others experience Your love through me today. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
